About the Role

We are looking for a Direct Communication Channels Manager responsible for SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Push notifications.

This is an operational and technical role at the intersection of vendor management and integrations. You will independently source providers, negotiate commercial terms, integrate them into Smartico via API, and ensure that communication channels remain stable, efficient, and cost-effective.

The role is focused on the Indian market, with high traffic volumes and frequent provider rotation. Routes may have a short lifecycle, while pricing and delivery quality can fluctuate significantly. OTP traffic also comes with the risk of fraudulent attacks. This is not a “set it and forget it” environment — communication channels require daily operational monitoring and fast response.

You will also act as the technical owner of provider integrations within the department. Postman, webhooks, and API documentation will be part of your everyday toolkit rather than tasks delegated to developers.

Responsibilities

Provider Sourcing & Vendor Management

Systematically source new providers to expand geographic coverage, reduce costs, improve deliverability, or introduce new functionality;
Evaluate providers based on geographic coverage, pricing, throughput (messages/minute), API documentation quality, reputation, and overall reliability;
Request and compare commercial terms and maintain a database of tested providers to avoid duplicate testing;
Support contract processes in cooperation with the Legal team.

Technical Integrations

Test and debug provider APIs using Postman, including send-message methods, request structures, callbacks, and responses;
Configure webhooks in Smartico and transfer tested setups into production configurations;
Conduct technical tests with local testers before signing agreements and after native integration;
Run marketing A/B tests to validate channel effectiveness before full rollout;
Open and manage tickets for native integrations with Smartico;
Diagnose integration issues, including failed sends, messages marked as delivered by the provider but not received by users, and missing delivery/click callbacks.

Channel Health & Operational Control

Perform daily monitoring using Smartico Data Studio, provider dashboards, Firebase for Push, and local testing;
Monitor fail rates, with a 10% failure rate serving as a trigger for investigation;
Manage OTP routes, including caps and alerts (Karix), analyze traffic legitimacy together with the Product team, and mitigate potentially costly fraudulent attacks;
Control communication costs, including SMS length and per-character overcharges, per-player limits, and overall caps;
Monitor provider balances, ensure timely top-ups, reconcile invoices, and manage channel budgets.

Incident Management & Communication

Handle incidents such as mass delivery failures, sender blocking, and OTP attacks. Initial response is expected within one hour, with an emergency solution within several hours, followed by a post-mortem;
Escalate major issues to the CRM Lead and keep the team and CVM informed about global incidents;
Manage IVR content and routes;
Advise CVM and Product teams on communication channels and webhook configurations;
Prepare reports on channel performance for management.
 

Requirements
Experience working with SMS aggregators and/or WhatsApp BSPs at scale, with specific examples of geographies, traffic volumes, provider changes, and their financial impact;
Strong technical background: confident use of REST APIs and Postman, webhook configuration, and ability to work directly with API documentation. A practical technical task will be included in the interview process;
Vendor management experience, including price negotiations, route testing, and the ability to distinguish actual provider capabilities from sales promises;
Understanding of channel economics, including cost per message, conversion rates, and route profitability/ROI;
Experience with OTP traffic and understanding of risks such as SMS pumping/artificial traffic is a strong advantage;
English sufficient for professional written communication with international providers.
 

Nice to Have
Experience in iGaming, gambling, or betting, particularly with the Indian market;
Experience with Smartico or similar CRM platforms;
Experience using Telegram channels and bots as marketing channels;
Experience with Firebase and push notifications;
Experience with IVR.
Expected Results

Within the first three months:

All existing communication channels should be under control, including monitoring, caps, and provider balances;
At least one new provider should be fully integrated end-to-end independently;
A structured database of providers and routes should be established, including the economics of each route.

Performance will be evaluated based on channel stability and measurable financial savings/revenue impact, rather than the number of activities completed.

This is a client-facing, strategy-and-execution role combining program management, performance analysis, hypothesis-driven optimization, and cross-functional coordination. You will be hands-on in planning, reporting, and messaging strategy, and will lead specialists for execution across channels depending on client scope.

Key Responsibilities: 

Marketing Strategy, Positioning & Planning

• Develop and manage multi-channel marketing programs aligned with client revenue and pipeline goals.
• Own positioning and messaging work: define or refine value propositions, ICP-specific messaging frameworks, and competitive differentiation narratives.
• Translate positioning into channel-level briefs ensuring consistent message across paid, organic, email, ABM, and social.
• Audit CRM and funnel data to validate ICP segments, identify conversion bottlenecks, and align program priorities with pipeline reality.
• Build structured program roadmaps across inbound, paid, ABM, lifecycle, and content channels.
• Define and test offers by segment (webinars, assessments, demos, reports) and map them to funnel stage.

Program Build, Activation & Coordination

• Translate strategy into a program brief: ICP, offer, messaging, channels, funnel steps, assets, SLAs, and measurement plan.
• Coordinate end-to-end conversion paths: landing pages, forms, email nurture flows, retargeting, and sales handoff.
• Manage execution across omnichannel programs, including:
  • Paid media (LinkedIn, Google, Meta)
  • SEO and content-led inbound
  • Email marketing and lifecycle flows
  • ABM and account engagement
  • Landing page and funnel CRO initiatives
• Own timelines, deliverable quality, resource allocation, and dependency management across the delivery team.
• Ensure messaging consistency across all channels, aligning with value propositions, buyer intent, and segment context.
• Maintain an experiment backlog with hypotheses, priority, expected impact, and learnings.

Performance Analysis & Hypothesis Development

• Build and own a cross-channel performance view: analyze traffic, lead, MQL, SQL, and pipeline data across all active channels.
• Develop data-driven hypotheses on what is working, what is underperforming, and where growth opportunities exist across SEO, paid, email, ABM, and emerging channels.
• Track and actively work to grow traffic and conversions from AI-driven sources (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and similar); treat AI visibility as a measurable channel with its own KPIs.
• Identify funnel bottlenecks and propose specific optimization initiatives across targeting, offer, messaging, conversion, and follow-up.
• Own UTM governance and channel taxonomy; ensure tracking consistency across all programs.
• Own dashboard development and reporting cadence (weekly performance readouts and monthly pipeline reviews).
• Ensure a practical attribution approach per client maturity, document limitations, and maintain consistent measurement.

Client Communication & Ownership

• Act as the primary client contact for marketing programs.
• Present program plans, performance updates, insights, and optimization strategies in a structured, business-focused way.
• Translate data into clear recommendations aligned with client KPIs and commercial goals.
• Manage expectations while proactively identifying growth opportunities and risks.

Project & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Manage timelines and ensure deliverables meet scope, quality standards, and deadlines.
• Allocate and coordinate internal resources (PPC specialists, SEO specialists, designers, copywriters, marketing automation specialists).
• Ensure clear briefs, structured task roadmaps, and ownership across the delivery team.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and maintain workflow momentum.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Track and improve program performance across CPL, CPA, MQL-to-SQL conversion, cost per SQL, cost per opportunity, and pipeline contribution.
• Prepare structured monthly reports with actionable insights, decisions, and next experiments.

• Stay current on AI-driven advertising tools, AEO trends, automation, and performance optimization approaches.

   

Must-Have Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in B2B digital marketing or performance marketing, ideally in an agency environment.
• Experience working with B2B tech clients.
• Strong understanding of full-funnel marketing and pipeline-driven KPIs.
• Hands-on experience managing multi-channel programs including paid, inbound, email, and content channels.
• Experience developing or executing positioning and messaging frameworks for B2B audiences.
• Ability to analyze cross-channel performance, identify patterns, and build structured optimization hypotheses.
• CRM analytics skills in HubSpot and/or Salesforce (funnels, segmentation, campaign reporting).
• Ability to connect program performance to SQL and pipeline outcomes (sourced and influenced).
• Experience with project management tools (ActiveCollab, Monday.com, Asana, Jira, or similar).

Full revenue mandate. All products, all channels, including sales. You decide what to scale, what to shut down, who to hire, and who to let go within marketing.

Ready-made assets, not a blank slate:

• Content farm of 500 accounts (operating cost ~$14,500/month) — generates reach, but the link to paying customers hasn't been measured
• UGC network with a Telegram bot and CRM — 46% utilization, unit economics need fixing
• Team of 13 people across three units (Content Engine, Marketing & Sales, UGC Network)
• Paid acquisition budget of $50K/month from day one, expanding to $150K once LTV/CAC ≥ 3 — no approvals needed

No restrictions on methods. Multi-accounting, arbitrage, affiliates, aggressive funnels — all fair game if it brings paying customers and doesn't create legal risk.

Uncapped revenue share: 6% of recurring revenue from the customer base you bring in (8% at LTV/CAC ≥ 4). No ceiling. At $250K MRR, your variable comp is $20K/month on top of base.

Equity option: 1–2% in the holding company (across the whole product portfolio, not a single project).

Career path: CMO → CRO within 12–18 months. The role is designed as a track toward running the studio's entire revenue engine.

What's expected of you

First 90 days (by December 31, 2026)

• Build end-to-end analytics: click → signup → trial → payment, across all products. Currently none exists.
• Launch a paid channel and hit a repeatable CAC below the $138 ceiling within 3 weeks, at ≥100 paying customers/month
• Calculate the real CPA of the content farm and decide: scale it or shut it down
• Make personnel decisions on all 13 team members. We don't expect you to keep the current team as-is.

By month 6 (by March 31, 2027)

• $60K MRR minimum, $100K MRR target
• LTV/CAC ≥ 3 across the portfolio
• ≥40% of paying customers from owned channels (not paid ads)

• At least 2 channels scaled

   

Compensation
Base: $7,000 → $8,500 (after 90 days) → $10,000 (at $150K studio MRR)

Variable: 6% of recurring revenue from clients you acquire, paid monthly for as long as they pay. 8% at LTV/CAC ≥ 4. Contract deals: 3%. No cap.
