    About the role:

    As a Senior Software Engineer in the Retail Operational Excellence domain, you will join a dynamic polyglot team primarily focused on building new functionalities as part of the wider Catalogue Information domain, comprising several cross-functional teams. You will be collaborating with multiple product and engineering teams around the world, to help unlock new opportunities for customers and partners to improve their experience when ordering groceries. 

    Your role will be pivotal in fostering communication and collaboration. You will work closely with product owners, front-end engineers on web and mobile, as well as other backend engineers. Together, you will design and implement new features, enhance existing ones, boost performance, streamline platforms, and develop robust and scalable backend solutions that serve our extensive customer base.

    Responsibilities

    As a Senior Software Engineer in the Catalogue Information team

    • You will play a vital role in collaborating with multiple development teams to design, implement, and maintain applications that meet business requirements
    • You will develop and optimize backend solutions on AWS, including deploying services on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and leveraging AWS cloud services
    • You will implement and update Front-End part using React or Vue.js
    • You will define technical solutions through our ADR process
    • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery
    • Work with Docker containers for application packaging and deployment
    • Implement and maintain messaging systems using SQS/SNS
    • Design, develop, and optimise databases, including NoSQL and SQL databases, for data storage and retrieval
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, and quality assurance, to deliver high-quality software solutions
    • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends to contribute to the team's continuous improvement
    • The team operates within the Agile – SCRUM or Kanban framework, emphasising flexibility, continuous improvement, and high-impact collaboration. We engage in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, which are foundational to our approach in managing projects and driving innovation.
    • Technical requirements:
    • Strong knowledge of C# .NET 
    • Strong knowledge of React or Vue.js, Typescript and JavaScript 
    • Proficiency in AWS cloud services, including experience with EKS, Lambda, RDS, and other relevant services 
    • Strong knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies 
    • Experience with CI/CD using tools like GitHub Actions 
    • Devops skills are a big plus as a lot of work will be in there 
    • Familiarity with API Gateway management and OpenAPI Specs 
    • Prior experience with messaging systems, preferably SQS/SNS 
    • Proficiency in working with both NoSQL (preferably DynamoDB) and SQL databases 
    • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills 
    • Excellent teamwork and communication skills 
    • Familiarity with Agile processes and team structure 
    • Microservice architectures and/or event-driven programming 
    • Strong attention to detail and understanding of when a pragmatic approach is needed
