About the role

We are looking for a Performance & Reliability Architect who can define and practically implement the non-functional testing and performance engineering approach across the product landscape.

This is an architect-level, hands-on individual contributor role focused on shaping cross-product performance and reliability strategy while working closely with engineering, Product, Architecture, DevOps/SRE, and QA teams.

The role covers defining and executing performance strategy for critical end-to-end flows, endpoints, APIs, and production-like scenarios; aligning non-functional requirements; supporting SLA/SLO-related validation; establishing quality gates and baselines; and improving the performance framework, observability, dashboards, and reporting.

This is not a direct people-management role, but it does require strong technical leadership, broad system-level thinking, and the ability to guide the overall performance and reliability approach across teams and products.

• Define and lead the performance and reliability strategy across products, with focus on critical E2E flows, endpoints, APIs, and production-like scenarios.
• Collaborate with performance engineers to design and execute performance and scalability testing activities where hands-on involvement is needed.
• Define realistic production-like workloads and test scenarios based on expected traffic, concurrency, throughput, and key business flows.
• Drive NFR alignment with engineering, Product, QA, DevOps/SRE, and Architecture teams, including performance expectations, acceptance criteria, and validation approach.
• Support definition and validation of SLAs/SLOs, performance baselines, and quality gates where needed.
• Establish and evolve a cross-company performance testing approach, including standards, practices, and frameworks that can be applied across multiple products.
• Identify bottlenecks across applications, APIs, databases, infrastructure, and integrations, and provide actionable optimization recommendations.
• Contribute to observability improvements, including dashboards, metrics, logs, reporting, and monitoring visibility.
• Work alongside performance testing engineers and other technical stakeholders, providing direction and architectural guidance while remaining hands-on where needed.
• Prepare clear reports on findings, risks, system limits, benchmark results, and recommended next steps to support production readiness and decision-making.
• Led resilience engineering initiatives by introducing chaos experiments in Kubernetes (OCI), validating system behavior under failure (latency injection, pod eviction, node outages), and integrating experiments into CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliability at scale.

What We’re Looking For

• 1–2 years of experience in software QA (manual and/or automated)
• Strong understanding of software testing fundamentals and QA methodologies
• Experience working with tools like JIRA, TestRail, or similar test management tools
• Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Familiarity with browser dev tools and debugging techniques
• Ability to think critically and identify edge cases
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Points

• Exposure to test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
• Basic scripting or coding knowledge (JavaScript, Python, etc.)
• Experience testing APIs using tools like Postman
• Understanding of CI/CD workflows and Git

About the Product:

Retently is a Customer Experience Management platform for SaaS, E-commerce & Financial Services companies. Used by 1,000+ brands to collect, understand, track, and act on customer feedback (NPS, CSAT, CES). Web-based SaaS application with a mobile app in the works.
 
About the Team:
Small, distributed team based in Moldova, working fully remote. No bureaucracy. You'll work directly with the founder and development team.

The Role:
We're looking for an experienced QA Engineer to own quality across  Retently app. This is primarily a manual testing role, but with a twist, we want someone genuinely excited about using AI tools (mainly Claude Code, ) to work smarter and faster. We'll provide all the subscriptions and tools you need. You'll be testing web applications now, with mobile (iOS) testing coming as we build out mobile apps for both products.

What you'll do:
- Own manual testing of new features, bug fixes, and releases across Retently 
- Design and maintain test strategies, test plans, and test suites - Perform exploratory testing to catch edge cases, regressions, and usability issues 
- Test across browsers and devices (web now, mobile coming soon) 
- Collaborate closely with developers to reproduce, document, and verify bug fixes 
- Use AI tools to accelerate your workflow, generating test cases, analyzing requirements, writing documentation, automating repetitive tasks 
- Define and improve QA processes, testing standards, and release checklists 
- Participate in feature discussions and provide quality-focused input early in development 
- Identify areas where test automation would bring the most value

Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in manual QA testing of web applications 
- Solid understanding of testing methodologies (test design techniques, risk-based testing, regression strategies) 
- Experience writing well-structured test plans and detailed bug reports - Familiarity with API testing (Postman or similar) 
- Comfortable with browser dev tools for debugging and network inspection 
- Experience testing complex SaaS or B2B web applications 
- Strong English communication skills (written, for documentation and team collaboration) 
- Self-driven, able to own QA end-to-end without hand-holding 
- Willingness to learn and actively use AI tools in your daily work, this is a must
