APOPO works to accelerate the survey and reduction of suspected hazardous areas in Ukraine using Technical Survey Dog teams.

APOPO Ukraine’s main office is located in Kyiv, and its dog training centre is located in Krasylivka, Brovary District, Kyiv Region.

About the Role

APOPO is implementing a new version of its ODOO ERP system across its operations. The ERP and IT Systems Specialist will serve as the local point of contact in Ukraine for ODOO user support, training and implementation.

The position does not require advanced ODOO development experience. A good general technical understanding, strong digital skills, the ability to learn new systems quickly, and the ability to explain processes clearly to users are essential.

The successful candidate will receive dedicated training on APOPO’s ODOO environment, including training abroad with the development team, before supporting the system rollout in Ukraine.

Important: This position requires international travel for training purposes. Therefore, candidates must have the legal right to leave Ukraine and return to Ukraine as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the rollout and adoption of ODOO across APOPO Ukraine departments and cost centres.
• Become familiar with APOPO’s ODOO configuration, workflows and internal procedures.
• Assist users during the testing and implementation of new ODOO modules and processes.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and verify and document issues identified by users.
• Provide first-line user support for system navigation, standard functionality and correct workflows.
• Determine whether an issue relates to user knowledge, system configuration or a technical problem, and escalate complex issues to the central IT or ODOO team.
• Deliver individual and group training to Ukrainian- and English-speaking staff and support the onboarding of new users.
• Collect user feedback, monitor recurring difficulties, and provide updates on implementation progress and outstanding issues.
• Develop and update user guides, quick-reference materials, training materials, FAQs, internal SOPs and a local knowledge base.
• Adapt or translate training and support materials for users in Ukraine.
• Provide or coordinate practical IT support when required, including Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, user accounts and access, hardware, software, network connectivity, peripherals and document storage systems.
• Follow basic information security requirements and coordinate with external IT service providers.

• Help reduce manual data entry, duplicated information and inefficient workflows.

You will explore new identity verification and biometric vendors, and build proof-of-concept solutions that show how each vendor could work within our Client’s platform. Your findings, demos, and recommendations will directly shape the product team's decisions on which technologies to adopt.

We expect a new team member to work independently and proactively: discover information on their own when documentation is incomplete, dig into unfamiliar APIs, and turn research into clear, well-argued conclusions. Strong communication skills are essential, since you will present results to the product team and work closely with US-based colleagues.

General project description

The project offers a biometric-based identity verification and passwordless multi-factor authentication (MFA) platform with a privacy-by-design architecture centered around a private and permissioned distributed ledger. The platform generates a non-phishable multi-factor authentication credential for employees while giving customers a convenient passwordless option for strong authentication to prevent fraud. Because all personally identifiable information (PII) is public/private key encrypted and the user maintains sole possession and access to the private key without third-party intermediaries, PII is always stored and managed in compliance with data privacy mandates and is never exposed in the clear. The platform's innovative architecture combines live biometrics, machine verification of government credentials, a portable digital identity wallet, a private, permissioned ledger, and verified reusable digital credentials. Combined, these capabilities eliminate the identity gap in conventional Single Sign-On (SSO) and MFA. They remove the compromise between security and convenience by reducing transaction friction while verifying identity at every access or service request. An immutable chain of custody provides tamper-evident digital identity and verified credentials for unmatched trust.

The size and the structure of the team

You will be a part of the product team, working closely with product managers and engineers on the client side.

YOUR BACKGROUND

• Proficient with JS / Node.js, API Integrations
• Hands-on experience with third-party API integrations (REST, webhooks, authentication via API keys / OAuth 2.0)
• Experience testing integrations end-to-end and validating vendor capabilities against requirements
• Ability to quickly read vendor documentation and SDKs and build a working prototype
• Ability to structure research findings into clear reports and comparisons
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Availability to overlap with US working hours for at least 4 hours a day
• English level - B2-С1

• Build and maintain automated BigQuery ETL/ELT data pipelines ingesting data from billing systems, Asana, HubSpot CRM, bank feeds and vendor data across global entities.
• Automate multi-entity invoice consolidation and marginality reporting (by entity, customer, vendor) to replace manual spreadsheet models.
• Design and implement SaaS metrics data models (MRR/ARR and others) and OPEX/Professional Services cost allocation pipelines.
• Develop automated monthly management reporting, double-entry architecture reconciliations (cash vs. accrual basis), and consolidated financial statement data pipelines.
• Create interactive Looker Studio dashboards and self-service reporting environments for key stakeholders.
• Implement built-in data quality controls, automated checks, and AI data processing/validation for financial integrity and unit economics alerts.
• Document data lineage, audit data sources, and maintain robust forward-looking capabilities such as anomaly detection and budget-vs-actual tracking.

We're looking for an AI Architect to become our lead technical expert for client AI solutions and to help stand up our AI Competence Centre and internal AI Lab.

This is a client-facing technical role first, with a build-and-lead dimension. Expect roughly 60% solution architecture and pre-sales engineering for enterprise clients, and 40% establishing the AI Lab and mentoring engineers. You'll technically lead and raise the bar for the team - this is a technical leadership role, not a people-management line.

Requirements

• Experience & seniority. 5+ years in software, data, or ML engineering, including 3+ years delivering ML/AI in production and 2+ years in a client-facing architect or technical lead capacity.
• Cloud & AI infrastructure. Production-level experience on Google Cloud Platform, especially the Vertex AI suite, plus integrating third-party model providers such as Anthropic.
• GenAI engineering. Strong hands-on knowledge of RAG, agentic workflows, orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), vector databases, and prompt/context engineering.
• Production & MLOps. Hands-on with the ML lifecycle, CI/CD for models, automated deployment, and cloud cost management - including right-sizing models (lighter vs. heavier) to control spend.
• Evaluation, guardrails & observability. Practical experience building LLM evaluations, guardrails, and monitoring for accuracy, safety, latency, and cost in production.
• AI governance & security. Familiarity with data governance, model risk, and EU regulation (EU AI Act, GDPR) as it applies to enterprise AI — we're primarily EU-based.
• Pre-sales & client experience. Proven experience presenting to enterprise clients, scoping technical projects, and translating complex AI concepts into clear business value.
• Technical leadership. Experience guiding engineers, reviewing architecture and code, and raising team capability.
• Languages. Native Ukrainian — required, as you'll run Ukrainian-language pre-sales — and strong English (B2+/C1 minimum).
