NuxGame is a dynamic IT company delivering top-tier software solutions for the iGaming industry. We empower operators of all sizes to expand into new markets, strengthen their existing brands, and achieve ambitious business goals.

We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Global (Core) Team. This is a hands-on architecture role: you will design how our platform evolves, own its behavior in production, and drive real improvements in reliability, performance, and scalability. You will work closely with the CTO, Tech Leads of product teams, and the Core Solution Engineer, who turns architecture into reusable libraries and standards.

Tech Stack: PHP 8, Laravel, Go, Vue 3, MySQL / Aurora, ClickHouse, Redis, Memcached, SQS, Kafka, gRPC, Kubernetes, AWS, Cloudflare, nginx.

Context: a multi-tenant platform, a hybrid architecture (Laravel monolith + growing Go services) and an ongoing shift from HTTP to event-driven (Kafka) and gRPC communication.

Your Responsibilities:

1. System Design & Architecture

• Service Boundaries: design systems, define service interactions and domain boundaries.
• Monolith vs Services: decide what stays in the monolith and what becomes a separate service, avoiding a distributed monolith and overengineering.
• Communication & Events: define event flows and rules for sync vs async communication (HTTP, Kafka, gRPC, SQS).
• Multi-tenancy: design config-driven, scalable client configuration without tenant-specific hacks in the core system.

2. Production Health & Troubleshooting

• System Health Ownership: own the behavior of the system in production, participate in incident analysis and find real root causes.
• Metrics-Driven Analysis: analyze latency (p95/p99), error rates, queue lag and retries to understand where the system breaks.
• Stability: fix bottlenecks, reduce queue lag, stabilize critical flows and reduce the number of incidents.
• Data over Opinion: validate decisions with real metrics, not assumptions.

3. Technical Initiatives & Implementation

• Initiatives: drive improvements such as an idempotency layer, reliable async flows, caching and service boundary redesign.
• Prototyping (POC): validate ideas and performance before rollout.
• Critical Code: implement complex parts, create reference implementations and help fix critical production issues.

4. Standards & Governance

• Engineering Standards: define API rules, event structure and versioning, and communication patterns.
• Adoption: introduce standards across teams without blocking delivery and measure their adoption.
• Architecture Review: review architecture-level decisions in code: service boundaries, async flows, DB usage and critical paths. The focus is "Will this break in production?", not code style.
• Authority: enforce architectural decisions and block system-level solutions that harm the platform.

5. Support for Teams

• Unblocking: help Team Leads with complex technical problems and resolve system-level issues.
• Collaboration: work closely with the CTO, who owns final cross-system decisions, and with the Core Solution Engineer on turning designs into shared libraries.

Approximate time split: 25-30% design, 25-30% troubleshooting & analysis, 20-25% implementation / fixes, 10-15% discussions, ~10% reviews.

This role does not include: feature delivery, sprint management or people management.

What We Expect From You

• Experience: 7+ years of commercial backend development, with at least 2 years in an architect, principal or staff-level role designing high-load systems.
• System Design: microservices, monolith and modular monolith; service boundaries; API design (contracts, versioning, backward compatibility).
• Distributed Systems: eventual consistency, idempotency, retries / DLQ, outbox and saga patterns; hands-on experience with Kafka and SQS (or RabbitMQ / NATS).
• Databases: relational DB design, indexing, transactions and isolation levels (including money operations), zero-downtime schema changes, replicas, partitioning and sharding.
• Performance & Scaling: caching strategies (Redis, CDN), bottleneck analysis, horizontal scaling and safe profiling in production.
• PHP & Go: deep knowledge of Laravel internals (queues, DI, structure) and practical experience with Go service architecture.
• Infrastructure & Observability: Kubernetes, nginx, load balancing and request flow; logs, metrics and tracing (Sentry, New Relic, Grafana or similar).
• Reliability: designing for failure, fallback strategies and safe deployment strategies (rolling, blue-green, canary).
• DDD: practical understanding of bounded contexts and domain separation.
• Trade-off Thinking: ability to balance complexity vs speed, cost vs performance, flexibility vs simplicity.
• Communication: ability to align multiple teams around technical decisions and explain them to both engineers and business.
• English: B1 (Intermediate) or higher.

It Will Be a Plus

• Domain: experience in iGaming, fintech or payments.
• Multi-tenant SaaS: experience designing platforms for many clients with tenant isolation.
• Analytics: experience with ClickHouse or other analytical databases and OLTP to analytics data pipelines.
• Edge & Cloud: experience with Cloudflare (WAF, CDN, DDoS protection) and AWS architecture.
• Migrations: experience migrating from a monolith to services or introducing event-driven architecture.
• Frontend Architecture: understanding of SPA to SSR migrations and micro frontend trade-offs.
• AI-Assisted Workflow: experience with AI coding tools. We welcome a smart approach to AI to streamline complex tasks, from architectural design to documentation, development, and code refactoring.

We look forward to reviewing your profile

We’re looking for a Solutions Architect who enjoys working with clients: understanding their challenges, leading technical conversations, and turning early ideas into clear, well-grounded proposals.

This role focuses on presales, consulting, and communication with client leaders and engineering teams. Your engineering background will help you assess feasibility, discuss constraints, and recommend solutions clients can trust.

What you’ll do

• Lead technical presales: run client meetings independently, explore their needs, and help define the problem to solve.
• Advise client CTOs and other decision-makers: discuss how their systems could evolve, explain technical trade-offs, and connect recommendations to business goals.
• Partner with the sales team: prepare technical proposals, initial estimates, and delivery plans, then present and discuss them with clients.
• Help clients identify valuable AI use cases: assess opportunities, limitations, and readiness for adoption.
• Build alignment between clients and delivery teams: agree on expectations, scope, assumptions, and success criteria, and ensure a clear handover to delivery.
• Share your expertise: help sales and project teams become more confident discussing technical topics and AI opportunities.
• Support communication in challenging project situations: help identify the issue, discuss it calmly with the client, and agree on next steps.

What matters to us

• Active listening and curiosity: you listen carefully and ask questions that uncover the needs behind the initial request.
• Adaptability: you get up to speed quickly in unfamiliar business domains and adapt your communication to your audience, from engineers to CEOs.
• Clear and constructive communication: you explain complex ideas clearly, make a strong case for your recommendations, and handle objections constructively.
• Pragmatism: you’re comfortable setting boundaries, pushing back on unrealistic expectations, and offering workable alternatives.
• Value orientation: when evaluating a solution, you consider client value, budget, timelines, risks, and the company’s interests.
• Transparency: you’re transparent about uncertainty and what needs to be validated before making commitments.
• Empathy: we value empathy, clear communication, and the ability to turn discussions into concrete agreements.

Experience that will help you succeed

• Experience in technical consulting, presales, or a client-facing architect or tech lead role.
• Ability to independently lead discovery sessions, present solutions, and discuss recommendations with C-level stakeholders.
• Experience preparing technical proposals, estimates, and architecture reviews.
• Fluent English for client discussions, negotiations, and technical conversations in an international environment. Knowledge of additional European languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish) is a plus.

Technical Background

• Strong seniority: at least 6 years of hands-on software development experience, including at least 2 years in technical leadership or architecture.
• Systems architecture: deep understanding of backend and enterprise systems, with the ability to assess an existing solution, propose a target architecture, and outline a migration plan.
• Prototyping: ability to validate key assumptions with a proof of concept when needed (primary programming language can vary; Python is a plus for AI work and prototyping).
• Practical AI expertise: hands-on understanding of where AI solutions fail, which risks need to be addressed early, and how to account for security, sensitive data, and the constraints of regulated industries.
• Value-driven tech approach: ability to explain when AI will deliver value and what needs to be in place for it to work.

Why this role

• High-impact involvement: an opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to business challenges, join the conversation from the start, influence the choice of solution, and help turn opportunities into viable projects.
• Great fit for consultants at heart: you’ll enjoy this role if client conversations, exploring options, and making the case for a solution interest you as much as architecture itself—and if success means a solution the client understands and the team can deliver.

Must-haves:
1. Completed university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
2. Proven knowledge of established architecture frameworks and standards.
3. Many years of professional experience in IT projects involving complex IT landscapes and demanding integration projects.

9. Knowledge of defining and technically enforcing governance rules, guardrails, role and authorization concepts, lifecycle requirements, and compliance requirements for AI agents.
10. Experience with LLM and agent governance, including controlled access to tools and data, traceability, observability, and reusable governance components.
11. Experience setting up, structuring, and continuously maintaining an LLM-optimized wiki or Git-based knowledge base.
12. Proficiency with Git-based workflows for versioned, traceable, and automatable knowledge maintenance, including Markdown, branching, pull requests, reviews, and CI/CD.
13. Experience preparing architecture, governance, and operational knowledge so it can be used automatically by LLMs and AI agents.

Nice-to-haves:
1. Knowledge of the energy industry.
2. Knowledge of IT applications used by a distribution system operator, particularly in asset management, grid operations, metering, CRM, billing, and/or market communication.
