Simulmedia is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our engineering team, working on the backend and data infrastructure powering our TV advertising platform - spanning National Linear and CTV. This role sits within a distributed system of up to ~30 microservices, and you'll be primarily responsible for building, scaling, and operating backend services - with secondary exposure to backend-for-frontend work in TypeScript/Node.

Simulmedia is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our engineering team and help build and improve our products. We build software for TV advertising — campaign management, delivery, and reporting used by advertisers and agencies.

In this role, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and data engineers to deliver features across the stack. The ability to frequently iterate and deliver high-quality work that is owned end-to-end is crucial in this role.

Location: Ukraine is mandatory. Our offices are located in Kyiv and Lviv. Teams are located in Kyiv and Lviv and primarily work remotely with occasional offline meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop both frontend and backend services using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, ensuring seamless integration between components.
• Build robust, scalable APIs using tRPC to serve data to the frontend application.
• Create efficient pages using server-side rendering (SSR) or static site generation (SSG) via Next.js for performance-optimized analytics displays.
• Collaborate with designers to implement responsive and visually appealing user interfaces using Tailwind CSS, ensuring a smooth, intuitive experience for the platform’s users.
• Optimize the full stack to ensure quick load times, low-latency data fetching, and smooth user experiences, especially for data-heavy visualizations and analytics pages.
• Deploy and manage the platform using Vercel, taking advantage of its serverless functions for backend processes and ensuring efficient deployments and scaling.
• Own features end-to-end — from API and data layer through UI to production — with a strong focus on quality and maintainability.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
• Implement unit and end-to-end testing for both frontend and backend components to ensure reliability and reduce bugs in production.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 5+ years of senior-level experience in full stack development, with a strong focus on web applications and data-driven platforms.
• Core Languages: Strong proficiency in TypeScript, including strong typing and interface design for scalable codebases.
• Frontend Expertise: Deep understanding of React and its ecosystem, including hooks, functional components, and React Server Components (RSC). Proficiency in Tailwind CSS for building responsive, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing UIs.
• Data Visualization: Experience in building data visualization tools and dashboards using React-based libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js).
• Rendering: Experience with SSR and SSG using Next.js, optimizing for performance and SEO.
• Backend Expertise: Proficiency in backend development (e.g., Bun, Node.js) with tRPC as an API framework. Experience designing and developing APIs, handling authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Data Architecture: Proficiency in building scalable and reliable data-fetching layers, especially for real-time or large-scale analytics.
• System Design: Experience designing and evolving scalable web application architectures — APIs, data flow, and frontend/backend boundaries.
• Infrastructure: Experience with serverless architectures, understanding of edge computing, and CDN usage for enhancing performance and reliability. Solid experience with Vercel or other serverless platforms for deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and performance monitoring.
• Testing: Experience with unit and end-to-end testing frameworks such as Vitest, Cypress/Playwright, or similar.
• Version Control: Proficiency in Git, including experience with pull requests, code reviews, and branching strategies.
• Soft Skills: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Timezone: Ability to communicate effectively with the U.S.-based teams and work 11:00 AM — 8:00 PM EEST (11:00 - 20:00).

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our scan data processes, submitting files, correcting errors, and ensuring the smooth running of our systems. Proficiency in Python is a plus.

Responsibilities + Activities:

- Oversee and manage week-over-week and day-over-day scan data processes to ensure the timely submission and processing of data files.
- Monitor system performance and respond to issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.

File Management:
- Submit and manage scan data files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Identify, diagnose, and correct errors in file submissions and data processing.
System Maintenance:

- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Node.js applications and SQL databases used in scan data processing.
Development and Scripting:

- Python knowledge is a plus for additional scripting and automation tasks.
Documentation:
