Overview

We are looking for a Middle Computer Vision / Visual Navigation Engineer to improve and extend our GPS-independent navigation stack.

This is a hands-on R&D role: you work with real flight data, bring algorithms from experimentation to production, and collaborate closely with software and flight teams. Day to day you balance navigation and CV development, post-flight analysis, sensor calibration, and integration work. The role suits someone who is comfortable with classical geometry-based CV, modern feature pipelines, and turning prototypes into stable behavior on constrained hardware.

Responsibilities

Navigation & computer vision

• Improve existing visual-inertial navigation on real UAV platforms - both copters and planes
• Develop and refine algorithms for estimating position and orientation from camera and onboard sensor data
• Research and implement additional computer vision that extend the current system (e.g. use of satellite data, map or scene-based cues)
• Handle difficult real-world conditions: vibration, blur, changing scenery, sensor noise, and platform-specific setup differences

Flight analysis & tooling

• Analyze flight recordings to find issues, propose fixes, and verify improvements
• Extend automated post-flight analysis to reduce repetitive manual work
• Define clear quality metrics and use them to judge whether changes are ready for the deployment

Calibration

• Improve calibration procedures for cameras, IMU, and related sensors on new platforms
• Make calibration more repeatable and less dependent on one-off manual steps

Cross-team delivery

• Work closely with software and flight teams on testing, integration, and rollout
• Bring new methods into the production system with attention to performance and reliability

Your responsibilities:

- Manage the software development process;

As an Embedeed Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be an important part of our R&D team. You will be a member of our QA team, working in close collaboration with the development team to ensure that our software for high-tech drones meets the quality standards. 

You will design and execute verification strategies for low‑level firmware, device drivers, and flight control software,. You will own test design from requirements to automated, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) regression, ensuring reliability, determinism, and safety across release. 

This is a full-time office job. Candidates must be located in Kyiv.
 

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• Translate system and safety requirements into testable specifications, acceptance criteria, and traceability matrices for embedded components. 
• Design and implement automated tests for firmwares. 
• Build and maintain HIL test benches: orchestrate power supplies, oscilloscopes/logic analyzers, RF signal generators etc 
• Develop board bring‑up test suites covering bootloaders, secure boot, installation and upgrade and peripheral self‑tests. 
• Own regression pipelines: containerized runners, artifact retention, flaky‑test triage, trend reporting, and release quality gates. 
• Introduce fault‑injection and negative testing to validate fail‑safe behavior. 
• Collaborate with Embedded Development Team to isolate root causes with traces, logic captures, and on‑target debug  
• Review, challenge, and optimize existing test cases 
• Proactively extend the test scope in a structured way 
• Provide quality report for your area 
• Participate in project meetings and and provide necessary inputs 
• Contribute to Knowledge Base 

What you bring to the team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field. 
• 3+ years testing embedded systems at the firmware/driver leve 
• Proficiency in C for test scaffolding on‑target and Python for orchestration (e.g., pytest, pytest‑bdd, asyncio) 
• Hands‑on with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and serial debuggers; ability to read schematics 
• Experience with Scrum 
• CI/CD for embedded (GitLab/GitHub Actions/Jenkins), build systems (CMake, Bazel, or Make), and artifact/version management. 
• Good knowledge of QA methodologies and testing processes 
• Experience with Test management Tools (TestRail, xRay, others) 
• Service and teamwork orientation

• Requirements elicitation — analyzing passive sources (existing documentation, regulatory frameworks, GDPR), proactive stakeholder engagement: interviews, facilitated sessions, business process research

• Understanding of business-to-technical requirements transformation — decomposing business requirements into functional specs, formulating technical and operational requirements, identifying "hidden" requirements from stakeholder conversations and documentation

✅ Should Have

• 3+ years of BA experience in relevant projects (enterprise IT, B2B, public sector) with a proven track record in requirements gathering, formalization, and system modeling from concept to implementation
• Knowledge of modeling notations — C4, DFD, EPC, BPMN, UML, ERD, DMN, CMMN and confident use of diagramming tools (draw.io)
• Project documentation experience — BRD, RFP, SRS, SDD, TSR, TSD — from concept and structure to final formalization and defense before review committees
• Domain understanding — DWH/DH/DL systems, current state of AI/ML and its practical applications

🟡 Could Have (Advantage)

• English or German at B1+ level — for working with international clients and documentation
• Experience with enterprise solutions — ERP, WMS, B2B portals
• Process automation experience — from individual operations to end-to-end cross-departmental workflows
