We are looking for a strong WordPress specialist to support an ongoing web maintenance and platform operations engagement for a large, multi-page organizational website.

This is not a simple landing page or one-time build. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with an established WordPress ecosystem, maintaining existing functionality, supporting plugin and theme updates, improving site stability, and coordinating with SEO, QA, and project management teams.

The project environment includes WordPress, WP Engine hosting, third-party integrations, technical SEO, privacy and compliance work, cookie consent management, and ongoing website performance improvements. AOM’s RFP specifically highlights WordPress development, WP Engine maintenance, technical SEO, privacy/compliance, CMP implementation, accessibility, and global privacy law compliance as priority areas.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve WordPress website functionality, plugins, themes, and integrations
• Manage WP Engine environments, updates, PHP upgrades, and troubleshooting
• Resolve bugs, performance issues, redirects, and plugin conflicts
• Support technical SEO (metadata, canonicals, schema, Core Web Vitals, crawlability)
• Assist with accessibility improvements and privacy/compliance tasks (GDPR/CCPA, cookie consent)
• Work with reusable components, templates, and third-party integrations
• Communicate technical updates clearly in English

Requirements:

• 4+ years of WordPress experience
• Strong knowledge of custom themes, HTML, CSS, JS, PHP
• Experience with plugin compatibility testing and staging/production environments

In June 2024, we launched an app focused on habit-building, using a subscription-based monetization model and a performance-first marketing approach (Meta, Google, TikTok). Within the first two months, we achieved positive unit economics and are now on track to grow 10x by the end of the year.

What you’ll do:
— Build and evolve a unified marketing technology platform — not just a collection of tools, but a cohesive system that directly drives business performance;

— Take full ownership of 5+ existing services (Hokuto, UA automation, Creo Factory, Revealbot, Creo-translate): evaluate their current state, identify architectural bottlenecks, and systematically improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability;

— Develop and maintain production-grade integrations with Meta / TikTok / Google — ensuring robust error handling, rate limiting, retries, and clear monitoring so the system operates reliably without silent failures;

— Redesign the tracking architecture by shifting from client-side to server-side (CAPI pattern for Facebook and similar platforms), implement proper test coverage, and build tools that allow Growth Managers to independently configure tracking for their funnels;

— Eliminate manual operational workflows (e.g., in Airtable) and enable marketing teams (UA managers, designers, growth managers) to operate independently without engineering support for routine tasks;

— Proactively identify and implement new martech solutions before they become bottlenecks - shaping the long-term vision of the domain and driving technical and product priorities.

Must-have

— 3+ years of commercial backend development experience;

— Node.js / TypeScript as the main stack;

— Strong experience building reliable API integrations — including error handling, rate limiting, retries, and webhooks;

— GCP experience — Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Firestore, or similar cloud environments;
