Mid-level Backend Developer (PHP / Laravel) (eSports)

We are looking for a Mid-level Backend Developer (PHP / Laravel) for our product in the eSports industry.

About the project:
This is a next-generation trading platform for CS2 skins, where users can buy and sell in-game items for real money. We are building a product that combines a B2C marketplace for players and B2B infrastructure for businesses. At the core, we have our own skin-based payment system (B2B). The project involves a large number of integrations and asynchronous logic. It is important to be able to work with external APIs and quickly understand unstable scenarios.

Reason for opening a vacancy:
Team expansion due to product growth and increased load. We are looking for a developer to accelerate the development of new features, improve system stability, and scale the backend.

Location: Remote.
Current team: 2 Backend Developers, 2 DevOps engineers, 2 Frontend Developers, Designer, QA engineer, Product Manager.

Requirements:
• 2+ years of commercial experience in the same position
• Strong knowledge of PHP and Laravel
• Basic understanding of Clean Architecture principles
• Basic understanding of DDD (aggregates, value objects)
• Practical experience integrating external services
• Experience working with REST APIs, including:
— authorization (API keys, signatures, etc.)
— idempotency
— error handling
— retry / basic backoff
— working with rate limits
• Experience working with queues (we use Horizon over Redis)
• Experience with data caching
• Experience working with webSockets
• Experience with MySQL (complex SQL, indexes, optimization)
• PSR12 compliance
• Basic understanding of fault tolerance principles (idempotency — basic level)

• Ukrainian or Russian — Upper-Intermediate+ / Advanced (for internal communication)
  • English — Intermediate

Domain & integrations experience (important):
• Experience with payment systems (crypto / fiat)
• Experience with Steam API or other gaming APIs
• Experience with marketplace / trading platforms
• Experience working with data providers (pricing APIs, etc.)
• Experience with third-party CS2 marketplace APIs — will be a strong plus 

Will be an advantage:
• Understanding of webhooks
• Experience with real-time systems
• Experience with Temporal (or similar workflow systems)

Responsibilities:
• Development and support of backend product logic (new features and maintenance of existing ones)
• Integration with external APIs (payment systems, data providers, gaming APIs)
• Working with queues and asynchronous processes
• Participation in task decomposition and solution design
• Performance and stability optimization
• Improving code structure and quality, participation in code reviews
• Interaction with the team
