Video Editor (Social Media Motion Design)
Role Summary
We’re looking for a part-time Video Editor to transform raw footage into clean, polished, professional short-form content for social media. You’ll also support motion design and, where relevant, create AI-assisted mockups to showcase websites, branding, and digital work in a compelling way.
What You’ll Do
- Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn
- Turn raw footage into high-quality edits with strong pacing, rhythm, and structure
- Apply clean audio syncing, noise reduction, and sound mixing
- Create motion design elements (titles, lower thirds, transitions, simple graphics)
- Format content for multiple aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) and platform specs
- Develop template-based styles for consistent, brand-aligned output
- Create showcase videos using mockups (websites, branding, product visuals)
- Use AI tools where useful (without compromising quality) for:
- b-roll generation, image enhancement, clean cutouts
- animated mockups, stylised transitions, quick concept visuals
- Collaborate with our team on briefs, iterations, and content schedules
- Deliver final exports with correct naming, versions, and file organisation
Must-Have Skills
- Proven experience editing social media content (short-form)
- Strong editing fundamentals: storytelling, pacing, sound, rhythm, clean cuts
- Confident with motion graphics basics
- Strong attention to detail and ability to match a brand style
- Reliable communication and ability to hit deadlines consistently
- Comfortable receiving feedback and turning revisions quickly
Tools (You Should Be Comfortable With)
- Adobe Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro
- After Effects (or equivalent) for motion design
- Familiarity with CapCut is a bonus (not required)
- Basic understanding of mockup workflows (e.g., PSD mockups, web screen recordings, overlays)
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI creative tools for video and visual production
- Experience creating videos that present websites, branding, UI/UX, or digital products
- Understanding of social-first best practices (hook in first 1–2 seconds, retention editing, subtitles when needed)
Output Expectations
- Short-form videos that feel premium, modern, and professional
- Clean motion design (not “template-looking” unless requested)
- Consistent formatting, exports, and organised project files
- Ability to produce multiple edits efficiently while maintaining quality
Hours & Engagement
- Part-time ongoing (flexible hours)
- Workload varies week to week depending on content pipeline
- Remote-friendly (Sydney-based is a plus)
How to Apply
Please send:
- A portfolio (links preferred) showing social edits + motion work
- Your availability (hours per week + timezone)
- Your rates (hourly or per-video)
- A short note on your workflow and the tools you use
Important: Applications without a portfolio will not be considered. We’re looking for editors who can deliver work beyond simple caption overlays—clean, professional edits with strong pacing and polish.
