They're now searching for a hands-on CTO to join their London team and help build the future of their AI-native platform.


The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing startup at a pivotal stage. We're looking for a technical leader who will not only manage a 6-person tech team but lead by example through hands-on programming.

You'll shape the technical architecture, scale the team, and personally build the AI and product capabilities at the heart of the platform โ€” from intelligent scoring and profiling to contextual engagement and autonomous AI agents.

What You'll Be Building

  • Custom AI/ML products โ€” evaluation engines, intelligent scoring systems, contextual profiling
  • Agentic AI tools โ€” autonomous AI agents that engage with users and optimize workflows
  • End-to-end platform workflows โ€” built around modern UX and fast, high-signal decisions
  • World-class design โ€” a product that users cannot get enough of
  • Core infrastructure โ€” ensuring scale, stability, and adaptability across the platform



Must-Have Requirements

Location:

  • Critical: Ability to be in London minimum once per week
  • Hybrid-first approach with flexibility for deep work

Technical Expertise:

  • 8-15+ years in software engineering with 3-5+ years managing and scaling engineering teams
  • Strong technical depth in AI/ML โ€” hands-on experience with LLM, NLP, or applied ML systems (2+ years in production)
  • Backend mastery โ€” commercial experience with Node.js/Nest.js
  • Database expertise โ€” PostgreSQL in production environments
  • Cloud infrastructure โ€” AWS deployment and maintenance experience
  • Active coder โ€” you still write code regularly and lead by example

Leadership:

  • Proven experience hiring and managing engineering teams (5+ people)
  • Track record of scaling teams in startup environments
  • Technical leadership: code reviews, architecture decisions, mentoring engineers

Mindset:

  • Build from scratch โ€” you love to code and build products yourself
  • Speed and experimentation โ€” comfortable with fast iterations and ambiguity
  • Startup mindset โ€” thrive in dynamic, high-growth environments

 

Nice-to-Have:

  • Frontend skills โ€” React, TypeScript, modern frontend architecture
  • Advanced AI tooling โ€” experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT, CrewAI)
  • Prompt engineering expertise and RAG implementations
  • Domain experience โ€” understanding of the relevant industry workflows and platforms
  • B2B SaaS experience, especially scaling 0โ†’1 products
  • Open-source contributions, publications, or talks about AI applications
  • Experience working with fintech or crypto companies

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: ยฃ50K-ยฃ150K depending on experience
