Your Mission

As Merchant Account Manager, you’ll own the full lifecycle of Peratera’s merchant relationships - from onboarding and integration through to retention, upsell, and commercial growth. Requirements (Must-have):
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python (3.10.x).
- Expertise in large-scale event-driven and distributed system design.
- Strong AWS experience: ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch.
- Experience with data processing frameworks: Spark, Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
- Solid understanding of system performance, profiling, and optimization.
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities:
- Lead design and delivery of event-driven, distributed systems for large-scale
 metadata extraction, enrichment, and processing.
- Build and maintain scalable APIs and backend services for high-throughput
 content pipelines on AWS.
- Partner with Data Science, ML Engineering, Infrastructure, and Product teams
 to architect reliable, high-performance systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the engineering org.
- Leverage AWS (ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, ElastiCache, CloudWatch) to deploy
 resilient production systems.
- Optimize existing systems for scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Ensure system health via monitoring, observability, and automated testing.
- Contribute to engineering strategy — identify gaps, propose initiatives,
 improve existing frameworks.

Nice to Have:
- Experience with Scala or Ruby.
- Experience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.

About the Role

We're building the US/EU version of Livly Island, a mobile social game with 4+ years of live service history and 20,000+ content assets. You'll be the first backend engineer on the UK team, taking ownership of a mature Go-based microservices platform and leading it toward full technical independence.

What You'll Do

• Own and operate the backend infrastructure: deployment, monitoring, incident response
• Work with the existing Go codebase (4 services: main API, realtime chat, CMS admin panel, data validation tooling)
• Set up and manage new region cloud infrastructure (AWS + GCP)
• Collaborate with HQ's engineering team during knowledge transfer, then gradually take over backend ownership
• Hire and onboard additional backend engineers as the team grows
• Partner with the client engineers (Unity/C#) to ship features for the market launch

Must Have

• 5+ years backend development, 3+ years with Go
• Production experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
• Strong MongoDB experience (replica sets, read preference, performance tuning)
• Redis (cluster mode, pub/sub, caching patterns)
• Cloud infrastructure: AWS (S3, CloudFront, ECS, Lambda) and/or GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage)
• Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
