Team in UA is looking for an experienced and highly talented Lead Back-End Software Engineer to join the ambitious team developing a new-of-a-kind commodity trading platform.

About the project: 

We are transforming global commerce by building a trusted, secure, and reliable marketplace that connects suppliers and buyers, increasing revenue and reach for suppliers and driving costs down for buyers. Our founding team comprises technologists who have previously built and sold three tech businesses and commodity industry veterans. 

As the Lead Back-End Software Engineer, you will:

• Lead the design and development of our backend application, shaping the system architecture, best practices, coding conventions, and development workflow
• Write code. A lot of it. You will be the primary driver in building our backend. 
• Drive the engineering decision-making process to ensure a scalable, secure, and maintainable system.
• Shape the engineering roadmap: ensure our roadmap and product plans include the right technical tasks. 
• Collaborate closely with a team of engineers to build a marketplace that will set new standards in the industry.

Requirements: We are seeking a candidate with:

• Product mindset: Your focus is on delivering a great product that adds value to users. You understand and enjoy the unique challenges of making business and technology tradeoffs. 
• Proven Expertise: 5+ years of commercial software development experience, primarily as a Java backend developer within product teams.
• Leveraging AI: You understand and have experienced the great benefits of using AI to help you be more productive. 
• Educational Background: A BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Java, Spring, ORM frameworks, relational databases, and SQL.
• Systems Design & Architecture: Solid experience in designing systems and willingness to lead the engineering process using modern methodologies.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Services (GCP) and Terraform.
• Leadership & Communication: A collaborative team player with leadership skills and strong communication abilities.
