Senior SEO Specialist (E-commerce)

to $3500

We are launching our own online store targeting European customers, while also running several client projects at our agency. Our product catalog will grow fast, from a few hundred to tens of thousands of SKUs, and we are looking for a specialist who can independently build and run the entire SEO function.

Responsibilities

Technical

  • Design the catalog structure from an SEO perspective: URLs, categories, internal linking, breadcrumbs
  • Keep indexation under control at scale: crawl budget, and handling "junk" pages generated by filters and sorting
  • Find and resolve duplicate content, especially where thousands of products differ by a single attribute
  • Build a system for auto-generating titles, meta descriptions and category texts from templates fed by the product data feed (no manual copywriting)
  • Implement structured data (Product, Offer, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage), validating it against the product feed
  • Monitor Core Web Vitals and write requirements for developers

Semantics and analytics

  • Multilingual SEO: hreflang and URL structure localization for each market
  • Build the semantic core (long-tail, SKU queries) and prioritize categories
  • Monitor Google Search Console regularly and report on trends and problem areas

Collaboration

  • Write technical specifications for developers and review the delivered work
  • Coordinate with the paid advertising team on product feeds
  • Provide targeted support to the agency's client projects (audits, consulting)

Requirements

  • Proven commercial experience with e-commerce projects (online stores, marketplaces). Please list the projects and catalog sizes in your application
  • Solid technical understanding: canonical tags, pagination, faceted navigation, reading server logs
  • Real-world cases of structured data implementation
  • Hands-on experience fighting duplicates on large catalogs, in practice, not just in theory
  • Working knowledge of Screaming Frog (or equivalent), GSC, and Ahrefs/Semrush
  • Ability to write clear technical specifications for programmers
  • A data-driven mindset, not one based on guesswork

Nice to have

  • WooCommerce / WordPress
  • Product feeds, Google Merchant Center
  • Practical experience with hreflang and multilingual projects
  • Knowledge of the Italian, Spanish, French and German markets
  • Basic SQL/Python
  • Server log analysis
  • Experience in niches with large catalogs (auto parts, industrial goods)
