Engineering Manager (in Warsaw)

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a large engineering organization working on a global product.

This is a senior leadership role with a strong focus on people leadership, organizational development, engineering strategy, operational excellence, and scaling teams and processes.

The role will initially focus on leading our Quality Engineering organization of approximately 50 engineers across multiple teams. We are looking for a strong engineering leader who has successfully managed sizable engineering organizations and can bring mature engineering management practices to the department.

The team is based in Warsaw, and this is an office-based role.

Responsibilities:
 

• Lead an engineering organization of approximately 50 engineers across multiple product teams.
• Manage the organization primarily through Leads and other senior leaders.
• Define and drive the overall engineering strategy and operating model for the organization.
• Build a strong leadership structure and clearly define ownership and responsibilities across teams.
• Improve engineering processes, collaboration, delivery efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.
• Establish and continuously improve KPIs, OKRs, and engineering performance metrics.
• Identify organizational and delivery bottlenecks and drive improvements across teams.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Delivery, and other stakeholders on priorities and execution.
• Drive alignment and consistency of engineering practices across multiple teams.
• Support teams in adopting new technologies, tools, automation, and AI-powered solutions where they can improve engineering effectiveness.
• Act as an escalation point for complex organizational, people, and delivery challenges.
• Develop Team Leads and other senior engineers and build a strong leadership pipeline.
• Own hiring, performance management, talent development, and succession planning within the organization.
• Drive organizational changes and transformation initiatives when needed.
   

Requirements:

• 6+ years of engineering leadership experience in roles such as Head of Engineering, Engineering Director, Senior Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering, Head of QA, or similar.
• Proven experience leading a large engineering organization, ideally 20+ engineers.
• Experience managing teams through Leads / Managers, rather than only managing individual contributors.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams or functions simultaneously.
• Experience introducing AI tools and AI-driven practices into engineering workflows.
• Strong experience with organizational design, engineering strategy, and process improvement.
• Proven ability to scale teams, processes, and engineering practices.
• Experience defining and working with KPIs, OKRs, and engineering effectiveness metrics.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices.
• Ability to identify systemic problems and translate them into clear improvement initiatives.
• Strong people management and leadership skills, including developing other leaders.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with senior Engineering and Product leadership.
• Experience driving organizational or engineering transformation.
• Advanced English and the ability to communicate effectively with international teams and senior stakeholders.

• Ability to work from our Warsaw office.

   

Nice to Have:

• Experience working with complex products and multiple cross-functional teams.
• Experience managing different engineering disciplines such as Backend, Frontend, Mobile, Platform, Infrastructure, or Quality Engineering.
• Experience taking ownership of an engineering function outside of your original technical specialization.
• Experience improving engineering productivity, delivery processes, and organizational effectiveness in a large-scale environment.
