Senior 3D Hair Artist (MetaHuman / Unreal Engine)

What You'll Do

• Create high-quality, photorealistic hair and hairstyles for digital human characters
• Own the complete hair grooming pipeline from concept references to production-ready assets
• Create and refine scalp hair, hairlines, flyaways, eyebrows, and other fine details
• Produce multiple hairstyle variations for different characters
• Ensure realistic appearance across different camera angles and lighting conditions
• Prepare and optimize hair assets for MetaHuman and Unreal Engine
• Collaborate closely with character, face, body, rigging, and animation teams
• Troubleshoot visual and technical issues related to digital hair
• Balance visual fidelity with real-time performance requirements
• Maintain consistent quality across the character library

Requirements

• Strong experience with Houdini
• Proven commercial experience creating photorealistic digital hair
• Strong experience with MetaHuman workflows
• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine
• Experience with hair grooming tools (such as XGen, Ornatrix, Houdini Groom, Blender Hair, or similar)
• Strong understanding of photorealistic character production pipelines
• Experience optimizing assets for real-time rendering
• Solid understanding of anatomy, hairstyle design, and realistic hair behavior
• Excellent attention to detail and artistic eye for realism
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Nice to Have

• Experience with VFX or animation character production
• Experience creating digital doubles or realistic MetaHuman characters
• Knowledge of Unreal Groom system
• Experience working with facial capture or performance capture pipelines
• Portfolio demonstrating realistic digital hair and character work
