Lead Software Architect
We are looking for a Technical Architect to take ownership of the technical direction of a modern AI-powered hotel booking platform.
The platform connects with Opera Property Management System and other hotel systems, provides access to unique inventory from high-end hotels, and is being developed as a chat-based AI booking platform.
The project has already been through an intensive development phase and is now entering a more stable stage. We are looking for someone who can step in, understand the existing product and architecture, take ownership of technical decisions, and ensure the platform remains stable and scalable.
You will work closely with the CEO and engineering team, combining hands-on technical work with architectural thinking. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer or architect who is comfortable working independently, making pragmatic decisions, and communicating technical topics clearly to business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the overall technical architecture and engineering direction
- Review and understand the existing codebase, architecture, integrations, and infrastructure
- Make pragmatic technical decisions focused on stability, maintainability, scalability, and business needs
- Identify architectural risks, technical debt, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
- Maintain and evolve the existing platform rather than focusing solely on new feature development
- Work with integrations such as Opera PMS and other third-party hotel systems
- Oversee integrations with hotel inventory, booking systems, APIs, and external services
- Contribute directly to the codebase when required and support the engineering team with hands-on technical expertise
- Evaluate and improve the architecture of the AI/chat-based booking platform
- Establish and maintain appropriate engineering and development practices
- Make technology and infrastructure recommendations based on project requirements and business priorities
- Communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to the CEO and other stakeholders
- Help define priorities and technical roadmap based on the current stage of the business
Ensure the platform remains reliable and ready for future growth and investment
Requirements:
- Strong professional experience in software architecture, solution architecture, or senior engineering
- Experience taking ownership of an existing product and its technical direction
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and backend architecture
- Experience working with third-party APIs and complex integrations
- Ability to quickly understand an existing codebase and architecture
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience identifying and managing technical debt and architectural risks
- Hands-on development experience and the ability to contribute to production code when needed
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, databases, CI/CD, and modern software development practices
- Understanding of AI/LLM-based applications and chat-based interfaces is a strong advantage
- Experience with booking, hospitality, travel, PMS, or other transactional platforms is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of technical decisions
English: Upper-Intermediate or higher
