About Five Jars
Five Jars is a US-based digital product and engineering company with a distributed team across the United States and Europe.
For nearly ten years, we have designed, built, integrated, and supported complex digital platforms for nonprofit organizations, membership-based organizations, cultural institutions, healthcare organizations, and other mid-market clients.

Our experience includes:

  • digital platforms and customer-facing products;
  • CMS-based ecosystems;
  • custom integrations;
  • portals and self-service experiences;
  • web and mobile applications;
  • managed support and platform development;
  • our own SaaS products, Screen Pulse and Deyra.

Five Jars is looking for a motivated Middle Project Manager to join our digital agency and help deliver quality web development services to our clients. You will work with inspiring non-profit organizations, manage technical projects, and be a part of the delivery team.

About the Role
As a Middle Project Manager, you will own a portfolio of client accounts - primarily CDA projects (Continuous Development Agreements, our long-term support and development partnerships), along with small and mid-size projects and fixed-price engagements when the opportunity arises. Many of these clients are non-profit and mission-driven organizations, which means the platforms you help deliver are the ones their audiences, donors, and communities rely on every
day.
The work is varied by design. A single day might move from planning to a client call about the next quarter's roadmap, to unblocking a developer, to reworking a budget or resource allocation forecast - several projects and several contexts within a few hours. The people who do well in this role are the ones who can switch quickly and still keep every detail in its place.
You will work closely with developers, designers, business analyst and QA on a daily basis, and alongside the rest of the PM team and the Head of Delivery. To your clients, you are the person who can always give a clear, honest answer about where things stand. To your team, you are the person who sets clear priorities, removes obstacles, and keeps the plan realistic.
We take delivery process seriously: documented ways of working, clean Jira, current Confluence, predictable reporting. You will be expected to work within that system consistently and equally, to tell us where it falls short and help improve it.
This is a role with room to grow. As you build a track record, you will take on larger accounts, more complex engagements, and a bigger part in shaping how the delivery team works.

Responsibilities

  • Manage CDA projects (Continuous Development Agreement (support/maintenance) and some small or mid-size projects
  • Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure efficient resource allocation and timely completion
  • Participate in resource planning sessions and identify project needs
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and blockers by proactively assessing project's current status
  • Prepare accurate and insightful project reports, provide updates on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators
  • Establish effective communication channels with clients, utilizing platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, email, and Slack
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to provide timely updates on progress
  • Lead communication and collaboration with the development team through regular project sync meetings
  • Manage project teams, assign tasks, and ensure that team members have the resources needed to complete their work
  • Communicate with other PMs and participate in our management initiatives and process improvements
  • Keep Jira and Confluence accurate and up to date at all times - clean boards, current statuses, correct estimates and logged time, well-maintained project documentation
  • Contribute to improving our delivery processes: flag what isn't working, propose changes, and help document and roll out the updates
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging practices, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance project management processes
