AI-Native System Architect

A fast-growing German AI software startup is hiring 2-3 full-time AI-Native System Architects in Ukraine.

The company has been operating for around 20 months, is growing quickly and is building a long-term engineering team.

This is a fully remote, direct full-time employment position with the German company.

YOUR ROLE

This is not a traditional software development role focused on writing every line of code manually.

You will act as the technical authority behind an AI-native development process. AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex will generate a significant part of the code, while you remain responsible for the overall architecture, system integrity, quality, security and long-term maintainability of the product.

You should be able to understand the complete system, challenge technical decisions and ensure that AI-generated code fits into a clean, consistent and maintainable architecture.

WHAT MATTERS MOST

You should be able to:

- Take ownership of the overall system architecture
- Make independent technical decisions without daily guidance
- Understand the interaction between frontend, backend, databases, APIs and infrastructure
- Define clear structures, interfaces and responsibilities across the system
- Review, challenge and improve AI-generated code
- Identify architectural risks, inconsistencies and technical debt
- Ensure security, performance, scalability and maintainability
- Translate business requirements into sound technical solutions
- Work directly with the founder as a technical sparring partner
- Challenge assumptions and propose better solutions
- Communicate clearly in English

AI-NATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or similar tools should already be part of your daily development workflow.

The focus is not on manual coding speed. The focus is on using AI effectively while maintaining full technical control over:

- Architecture
- System design
- Data models
- Code quality
- Security
- Testing
- Integrations
- Technical decisions
- Long-term maintainability

You must be able to understand what the AI generates, recognise weak or incorrect solutions and guide the development process in the right direction.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate has already taken responsibility for a complete software system or a significant part of its architecture.

Relevant experience may include:

- System or software architecture
- End-to-end ownership of software products
- Architecture of SaaS platforms
- Backend and frontend system design
- Database and API architecture
- Authentication, permissions and security
- Cloud infrastructure and deployment
- AI-assisted software development
- Code reviews and technical quality assurance
- Scalable and maintainable system design

A specific technology stack or number of years is not the main deciding factor.

What matters is whether you have already made important architectural decisions, taken responsibility for the overall system and can work independently.

This role is not suitable for someone who has only implemented isolated frontend or backend tasks under the direction of another architect.

LOCATION

- Ukraine or Europe
- Fully remote

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT

- $ 2,500-4,000 gross per month
- Depending on experience, seniority and proven system responsibility
- Direct full-time employment with the German company
- Long-term position
- Start as soon as possible
- No parallel full-time employment or full-time studies

INTERVIEW PROCESS

- Short introductory interview - approximately 15-20 minutes
- AI-based take-home task - approximately one working day
- Final interview with the founder - approximately 90 minutes

The company makes decisions quickly. First interviews are planned within the next 48 hours.
