Middle Strong/Senior Python Engineer (Computer Vision, Machine Learning)

The role: We are looking for a Python Engineer with an interest in Machine Learning and Computer Vision to join our Image Recognition product team. The role combines software engineering, machine learning, and R&D activities focused on a large-scale platform that processes retail shelf imagery to recognize products, price tags, shelf layouts, and planogram compliance

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of Python development experience
• Familiarity with Computer Vision concepts, including Object Detection, Image Segmentation, and Image Classification
• Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, including model training, evaluation, and deployment
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying, analysis, and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and propose practical solutions
• Curiosity and willingness to work with real-world image datasets and production-scale challenges
• Ability to work independently and drive tasks from research through production delivery
• Nice-to-have skills
• Experience with PyTorch
• Background in retail analytics, shelf recognition, planogram compliance, or similar Computer Vision domains
• Familiarity with model optimization techniques (quantization, distillation, ONNX export)
• Knowledge of MLOps practices, including experiment tracking, model versioning, and CI/CD for ML solutions
• Understanding of classical Computer Vision algorithms (edge detection, Hough transforms, Haar wavelets)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain machine learning models for object detection, image segmentation, and product classification
• Contribute to existing ML pipelines, including data preparation, model training, and evaluation
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and support roadmap planning
• Conduct R&D activities to evaluate new architectures, techniques, and datasets aimed at improving model accuracy and performance
• Develop and enhance post-processing algorithms to improve recognition quality and reliability
• Analyze model outputs and system behavior using SQL queries and telemetry data
• Write clean, maintainable Python code following engineering best practices
• Document technical approaches, experiments, and model behavior to support knowledge sharing across teams
