Overview

We are looking for a Middle / Senior Computer Vision / Deep Learning Engineer to extend our onboard navigation capabilities with modern perception and learning-based methods.

This is a hands-on R&D role: you work from research and prototypes to production on edge hardware, collaborate with software, and flight teams, and help shape how new CV/DL features are built and shipped. The role suits someone who can follow state-of-the-art work, implement what fits our constraints, and care about real-world performance—not only offline benchmarks.

Responsibilities

Relocalization & navigation

• Design and develop satellite, map, and semantic navigation capabilities that improve the overall quality of our navigation
• Build and maintain pipelines for map and reference-data preparation before missions
• Extend the existing visual-inertial navigation stack with relocalization and map-based aiding features
• Develop training pipelines for these tasks (data preparation, training, evaluation, and iteration)
• Create utilities that make map preloading and mission setup convenient for operators and integrators

Research & implementation

• Track relevant research and industry approaches; prototype and adopt methods where they clearly improve the product
• Reimplement or adapt algorithms when off-the-shelf solutions do not fit our data, hardware, or latency requirements
• Define evaluation metrics and acceptance criteria for new features before field and deployment rollouts

Edge deployment & production

• Optimize models and inference for target onboard hardware
• Integrate new features into the production codebase with stable APIs, logging, and failure handling
• Take part in architecture decisions, code review, and team practices that keep production quality high as the stack grows

• 3+ years of practical experience in computer vision and deep learning
• Strong Python; ability to write clear, maintainable code for experiments and production paths
• Experience with training and deploying deep learning models (PyTorch)
• Familiarity with model optimization for edge or embedded devices (pruning, quantization, ONNX/TensorRT-class tooling, or equivalent)
• Comfort working with geospatial or map-related data and preprocessing pipelines

Role summary

We are looking for an engineer to design, configure, integrate and support secure, production-grade generative-AI solutions built on Google Cloud. The core of the role is turning everyday business processes into scalable, AI-powered workflows — enterprise search, knowledge discovery, question-answering and agent-based automation — on top of Google's enterprise GenAI and search stack (for example Gemini Enterprise, Vertex AI Search and Agent Builder). You will work hand-in-hand with business stakeholders, cloud and platform engineers, security teams and application developers to take solutions from discovery through to live operation.

What you'll do

Solution build & AI agents

• Configure and deploy enterprise GenAI applications to match business and customer requirements — data stores, search experiences, actions and agents.
• Build AI-driven enterprise search, knowledge discovery, Q&A and workflow-automation capabilities.
• Create reusable agents that serve operations, customer service, sales, HR and knowledge-management use cases.

Data integration & retrieval quality

• Connect the platform to structured and unstructured company data — Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, databases, document repositories, cloud storage, APIs and third-party business apps.
• Design secure ingestion, indexing, synchronisation and retrieval flows, and make sure applications are wired to the right data stores for answers, actions and agents.
• Improve answer and search quality through metadata design, document preparation, access controls, grounding and retrieval tuning.

Security & governance

• Implement identity, access management and role-based access so retrieval respects each user's existing permissions.
• Keep solutions aligned with organisational security, privacy and governance policy, and work with security/compliance teams on data residency, auditability, retention and responsible-AI requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks such as data leakage, prompt injection, unauthorised access, hallucinations and inappropriate responses; maintain documentation of architecture, data flows and access controls.

Deployment & operations

• Support solutions across development, testing, production rollout and ongoing operation.
• Monitor usage, search quality, agent performance, latency, errors and user feedback; set up logging, monitoring and alerting.
• Troubleshoot data connectors, indexing, authentication, API and permission issues, and recommend improvements from adoption metrics and evaluation results.

Stakeholder collaboration

• Run discovery sessions to understand requirements, workflows, data sources and desired outcomes, and translate them into technical architecture and delivery plans.
• Produce proofs of concept, demos, documentation and technical presentations; train administrators, developers, support teams and end users on capabilities and responsible use.

Must-have qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years in cloud engineering, software development, data engineering, AI engineering or enterprise application implementation.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with generative AI, large language models, conversational AI or enterprise-search technologies.
• Experience integrating applications with APIs, databases, cloud storage and third-party systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language — Python preferred (Java, JavaScript/TypeScript or Go also welcome).
• Solid grasp of REST APIs, authentication, OAuth, service accounts and identity & access management.

• Cloud & AI infrastructure. Production-level experience on Google Cloud Platform, especially the Vertex AI suite, plus integrating third-party model providers such as Anthropic.
• GenAI engineering. Strong hands-on knowledge of RAG, agentic workflows, orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), vector databases, and prompt/context engineering.
• Production & MLOps. Hands-on with the ML lifecycle, CI/CD for models, automated deployment, and cloud cost management - including right-sizing models (lighter vs. heavier) to control spend.
• Evaluation, guardrails & observability. Practical experience building LLM evaluations, guardrails, and monitoring for accuracy, safety, latency, and cost in production.
• AI governance & security. Familiarity with data governance, model risk, and EU regulation (EU AI Act, GDPR) as it applies to enterprise AI — we're primarily EU-based.
• Pre-sales & client experience. Proven experience presenting to enterprise clients, scoping technical projects, and translating complex AI concepts into clear business value.

About the Role
You will join the backend team building the computer vision and machine learning systems that power QOVES's facial analysis platform. The non-negotiable is proven production experience: at least 3 years building scalable software in Python, with hands-on work shipping AI or ML features, including computer vision or LLM-based systems, into a live codebase.
