Head of Accounting

About the Company

We are an international product company preparing to launch a licensed online casino for the Ukrainian market. Currently in the pre-launch phase, we are building a modern, technology-driven business focused on operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainable growth.

Our team brings together experienced professionals from the iGaming, IT, FinTech, Product, Compliance, and Operations domains, working collaboratively to build a scalable product that meets the highest industry standards.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Accounting (Chief Accountant) to lead the accounting function, ensure full compliance with Ukrainian legislation and regulatory requirements, and establish robust financial processes that will support the company's successful launch and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Lead and manage the company's accounting function from the pre-launch stage.
• Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with Ukrainian accounting standards and tax legislation.
• Prepare and submit statutory, tax, and financial reports within established deadlines.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal procedures, and financial documentation.

Financial Operations

• Oversee accounting for banking operations, payment transactions, settlements with suppliers and contractors, payroll, taxes, and operating expenses.
• Ensure timely reconciliations with banks, payment service providers, and external partners.
• Monitor the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records.
• Maintain effective internal financial controls and risk management procedures.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with Ukrainian accounting, tax, and gambling regulatory requirements.
• Prepare documentation required by regulatory authorities and support licensing compliance.
• Coordinate external audits, tax inspections, and regulatory reviews.
• Monitor legislative changes and implement necessary updates to accounting policies and processes.

Business Partnership & Process Improvement

• Partner closely with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Financial Monitoring, Product, Operations, and HR teams.
• Drive the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and ERP solutions.
• Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and improve accounting processes.
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights to support business decision-making.

Leadership

• Build, mentor, and develop the accounting team as the company grows.
• Establish clear workflows, responsibilities, and high professional standards within the accounting function.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Chief Accountant, Head of Accounting, or in a similar leadership role.
• Proven experience within the iGaming or IT product industry is required.
• Experience working in licensed and highly regulated business environments.
• Strong expertise in Ukrainian accounting standards, tax legislation, and statutory reporting.
• Solid understanding of financial governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems (BAS, 1C, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience optimizing accounting processes and implementing operational improvements.
• Strong leadership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and dynamic business environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting a company through launch, transformation, or rapid scaling.
• Experience with payment service providers (PSPs), acquiring, and high-volume transaction accounting.
• Experience participating in external audits and implementing ERP or accounting automation projects.
• Knowledge of IFRS will be considered an advantage.
