About the Product

We are building a VR training platform that uses generative AI and learning engineering to deliver personalized, hands-on skills training.
 

The product runs immersive training simulations on Meta Quest. A backend service owns the authoritative simulation state and business logic, while the Unity client renders the experience, manages device-side services, and communicates with the backend through defined APIs.


This is a platform engineering role, not a one-off game or simulation project.


The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Unity Engineer to own major parts of the client platform architecture.


You will build reusable Unity infrastructure that supports multiple training simulations and content teams. You will work closely with backend engineers to define API contracts, integrate server-controlled behavior, and ensure that the VR client remains reliable and performant on Meta Quest.


This role is best suited for someone who has built or substantially refactored complex Unity applications and enjoys creating systems that other developers build upon.
 

What You Will Do

  • Design and implement reusable Unity client architecture for multiple VR training simulations.
  • Build the integration layer between the Unity client and the server, including API contracts, data models, state synchronization, error handling, and recovery behavior.
  • Develop device-side services and shared components used across simulations.
  • Build Unity Editor tools and workflows for developers and content creators.
  • Profile and optimize CPU, GPU, memory, loading, and runtime performance on Meta Quest.
  • Establish practical engineering standards for testing, validation, maintainability, and releases.
  • Collaborate directly with backend, product, learning, and content-development teams.
  • Use AI coding tools where they improve engineering productivity, while maintaining appropriate review and validation standards.
  • Make pragmatic technical decisions in an early-stage product environment.
     

Required Experience

  • 5 or more years of professional Unity and C# development experience.
  • Experience architecting, modernizing, or substantially refactoring a complex Unity codebase.
  • Professional experience developing VR applications for Meta Quest.
  • Strong understanding of Unity performance optimization for standalone VR hardware.
  • Experience designing reusable frameworks, shared services, SDKs, or platform components.
  • Experience integrating Unity applications with backend services and structured APIs.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, dependency management, asynchronous programming, error handling, and maintainable C# design.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate technical decisions clearly in English.
  • English at B2 level or higher.
     

Nice to Have

  • Experience with WebGL or additional Unity deployment targets.
  • Experience with reactive, event-driven, ECS, or other data-driven architectures.
  • Experience building Unity Editor extensions or content-authoring pipelines.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, Addressables, remote content, or release automation.
  • Experience with educational technology, simulations, or enterprise training.
