ABOUT SMART INK

Smart Ink is an international product company and manufacturer operating in the e-commerce market. We develop and manufacture high-quality compatible printer cartridges for all major printer brands, including HP, Canon, Brother, and Epson.

Our primary sales channel is B2C e-commerce across the United States, Canada, and Europe, with Amazon serving as our core marketplace. Our products consistently rank among the top performers in the Office Products and Home Office categories.

Over the past eight years, we've grown from zero to 60,000 monthly orders and from a small startup team to 36 proactive professionals. Our average employee tenure is 3.9 years.

Our values are simple:
Grow & Achieve and Enjoy The Way.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You'll work directly with our CEO & Founder to identify and evaluate the most attractive Amazon brands for acquisition.

You'll own the entire M&A process—from sourcing opportunities and evaluating businesses to negotiating with founders, coordinating external advisors, and driving transactions through closing.

Smart Ink is building its M&A function from the ground up, and we're looking for someone who wants to build it with us.

While the CEO makes the final investment decisions, your research, analysis, and recommendations will determine which businesses make it to the negotiation table.

Your primary mission is to help Smart Ink complete its first acquisition or strategic partnership with a high-quality Amazon brand.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Market Research & Opportunity Mapping

- Analyze Amazon categories by evaluating market size, BSR trends, competitive landscape, and seasonality. Assess long-term market attractiveness (5–10 years) and build an Opportunity Map with 3–5 priority categories.

Sourcing

- Source acquisition opportunities through platforms like Flippa, Empire Flippers, and FE International; conduct direct outreach to Amazon sellers; monitor investment funds and aggregators; and build a proprietary pipeline of qualified acquisition targets.

Seller & Broker Communication

- Build relationships with founders, brokers, and investment funds. Lead initial conversations with sellers and prepare the CEO for key negotiations—from the first introductory call through final pricing discussions.

Investment Screening

- Evaluate opportunities using financial and Amazon-specific metrics, analyze financial statements, and prepare concise one-page investment recommendations with clear GO / NO GO decisions.

End-to-End Deal Management

- Own the full acquisition lifecycle—from sourcing and screening through LOI, due diligence, and closing. Manage timelines, maintain deal rooms, coordinate multiple opportunities simultaneously, and proactively escalate risks to the CEO.

External Advisor Coordination

- Engage and coordinate external specialists when needed, including IP and trademark attorneys, financial auditors, and Amazon account specialists, ensuring every workstream stays on schedule.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience managing complex cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in Amazon, DTC/e-commerce, or supporting Amazon businesses
  • Experience coordinating external advisors, consultants, or legal partners
  • Ability to read P&L statements and understand basic financial models
  • High level of ownership and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical thinking and communication skills
  • English at B2 level or above (all external communication is conducted in English)

NICE TO HAVE

  • Hands-on experience with M&A transactions, including LOIs, due diligence, term sheets, and closings
  • Personal experience buying or selling a business or brand
  • Experience at an Amazon aggregator (such as Thrasio, Perch, Razor Group, or similar)

WORK FORMAT

We're flexible regarding the engagement model and are open to both a full-time in-house hire and freelance/project-based collaboration.

Compensation and engagement terms will be discussed individually.
