The Opportunity

We are seeking a practical, organized, and reliable IT System Administrator on a part-time/contract basis to manage, maintain, and secure our internal IT infrastructure. This hands-on role is perfectly suited for a middle-level administrator who is an expert in the Microsoft 365 cloud ecosystem, specifically around Microsoft Intune and identity management.

Your primary mission will be to ensure our distributed team has working, secure devices and seamless access to corporate applications (including our Dynamics 365 ERP/CRM environments). You will own the onboarding process from a technical perspective, manage licenses, and enforce modern security patches across endpoints.

This role requires independent execution. You should be comfortable managing the IT helpdesk ticket queue, troubleshooting hardware/software issues remotely, and proactively hardening our Microsoft cloud tenant with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and optimize Device Provisioning and MDM profiles using Microsoft Intune (Windows and mobile devices).
  • Configure, package, and deploy corporate applications via Intune Apps Setup.
  • Maintain company-wide security posture by enforcing Windows/phone updates, security patches, and adjusting Intune/Entra ID Policies.
  • Own the technical Staff Onboarding process, including laptop imaging, configuration, and profile setup.
  • Provide day-to-day IT Support and helpdesk troubleshooting for remote team members.
  • Manage corporate Microsoft 365/Dynamics licenses efficiently, auditing usage and optimizing software spend.
  • Assist with office equipment setup, network configurations, and basic remote hardware troubleshooting.
  • Document IT processes, inventory tracking, hardware allocation, and credentials securely.
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders during technical incidents or onboarding windows to ensure a smooth user experience.

Essential requirements for the role:

  • Demonstrated experience as an IT System Administrator, Helpdesk Engineer, or IT Support Specialist.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune (App deployment, Device management, Provisioning, Autopilot).
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and modern cloud identity policies (Conditional Access, MFA).
  • Proven track record of managing Windows OS and mobile device security, updates, and compliance patching.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including user management and license lifecycle management.
  • Excellent remote troubleshooting skills (hardware, software, and basic office networking).
  • Good English communication skills and a customer-first approach when dealing with non-technical staff.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, onboarding schedules, and IT documentation.
  • High reliability and availability to handle urgent support or onboarding tasks within agreed timeframes.

Advantageous / desirable section

  • Basic understanding of how Dynamics 365 ERP/CRM environments connect with user licenses and Microsoft 365 groups.
  • Experience coordinating hardware logistics or courier services for laptop delivery within the UK/Europe.
  • Familiarity with script-based automation (PowerShell) for routine administrator tasks.
  • Experience working in a growing business where IT infrastructure needs to scale smoothly alongside hiring.
