Technical Business Analyst (AI-Focused)
Lynx Trading Technologies is the technical infrastructure provider powering institutional trading in U.S. equity markets. We build sophisticated trading technology—think order routing engines, risk management systems, compliance filters, and real-time market connectivity—for broker-dealers and institutional clients.
We're a product company at the intersection of finance and technology, solving complex problems in market infrastructure. Our platform handles millions of dollars in order flow daily, and we're constantly evolving to meet the demands of modern electronic trading.
The Role
We're looking for a Technical Business Analyst who lives at the intersection of technology, data, and product development. This person will be the bridge across engineering, product, operations, and clients—translating business needs into technical requirements, building internal tools, and leveraging AI to work smarter and faster.
You'll be hands-on with Python, deeply engaged with AI tools daily, building analyses and automations, and working directly with engineers to ship features for a complex trading platform.
You need to be technical enough to hold your own with engineers, analytical enough to dissect complex workflows, and AI-savvy enough to speed up your output with modern tools.
This is a fully remote position.
What You'll Do
- Work across the entire organization—engineering, product, operations, compliance, client success—to gather requirements and translate business needs into actionable technical specs
- Define and document product features for our trading platform modules (order routing, risk management, compliance, connectivity, analytics)
- Create user stories, workflows, data models, and technical documentation that engineers can actually use
- Collaborate with engineers to understand system architecture and technical constraints
Bridge the gap between non-technical stakeholders and technical teams—you speak both languages fluently
Technical Analysis & Tools
- Write Python scripts for data analysis, reporting, and workflow automation
- Build internal tools to streamline operations, automate manual processes, and surface insights from trading data
- Query databases, analyze order flow patterns, identify system bottlenecks, and generate actionable reports
- Read and understand code written by engineers—you don't need to be a software engineer, but you need to follow technical conversations and review implementations
AI-Powered Productivity
- Use AI tools daily (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to accelerate documentation, analysis, code generation, and problem-solving
- Experiment with AI-driven approaches to automate repetitive BA work
- Help the team adopt AI tools and workflows to move faster
Stay current with AI developments and find opportunities to integrate them into our processes
Market & Domain Knowledge
- Ready to learn the U.S. equity market structure, trading workflows, and regulatory requirements (we'll teach you, but you need to be eager to learn)
- Understand how institutional trading works—order types, routing strategies, market venues, clearing processes
Develop deep expertise in our platform and the problems we solve for clients
Process & Communication
- Maintain clear, organized documentation that keeps pace with a fast-moving product
- Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
- Participate in product planning, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration
Adapt quickly as priorities shift—we're in a dynamic industry where things change frequently
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years as a Business Analyst, preferably at a product company
- Strong technical aptitude - comfortable with Python for scripting, data analysis, and automation
- Daily AI user - you're already using AI tools to enhance your work and excited about what's possible
- Fluent English - excellent written and verbal communication
- Systems thinker - you understand how complex technical systems fit together
- Product company mindset - you've worked in fast-paced environments where shipping features and iterating quickly matters
- Self-directed learner - willing to dive deep into trading, market structure, and financial systems
- Comfortable with ambiguity - things move fast here, requirements evolve, and you need to stay productive through change
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech, trading technology, or financial services
- Knowledge of U.S. equity markets, trading platforms, or broker-dealer operations
- SQL, data modeling, or analytics experience
- Exposure to FIX protocol, trading APIs, or market data systems
- Experience building internal tools or automations for operations teams
