Chief Technology Officer

Location: Kolding, Denmark (relocation required)

The Role
You'll be Bixter's first technical executive and a direct partner to the CEO — owning the technical direction of the company from day one. This isn't about managing a large internal team. It's about building a technical machine that runs smoothly through external partners and contractors, while ensuring every product we ship meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and scalability.
You'll work closely with the Head of Product & Platform Development, ensuring that what gets built is architecturally sound, scalable, and delivered with engineering excellence.
 

What You'll Own
Technical Strategy & Architecture

• Define and drive the company's technical strategy — from stack choices and architectural decisions to the long-term technical roadmap
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable architecture across Bixter's platform ecosystem: job platform, Academy integration, AI matching, Odoo/CRM, employer dashboards, and reporting
• Set and uphold high engineering quality standards: code review, technical documentation, testing, and security practices
• Own the reliability, availability, and performance of all product infrastructure
• Assess technical debt and make sound prioritization decisions, communicating trade-offs clearly to the business
  
   

Contractor & Vendor Management

• Build and develop an ecosystem of external developers and contractor teams — sourcing, evaluating, onboarding, and maintaining long-term relationships
• Ensure clear task definition, execution transparency, and predictable delivery without micromanagement
• Establish effective workflows for external collaboration: from briefings and technical specs to delivery acceptance and feedback loops
• Protect the quality of the final product regardless of who writes the code or where
• Serve as the single point of technical accountability to the business, despite a distributed execution model
  
   

Engineering Processes & Operational Excellence

• Implement and maintain modern DevOps practices: CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and incident management
• Build a culture of transparency and predictability through clear backlog management, sprint processes, and prioritization frameworks
• Ensure strong technical documentation so that knowledge doesn't depend on any single person
• Continuously optimize the delivery pipeline, reducing time from idea to production
   

 AI & Automation Infrastructure

• Own the technical foundation for AI-powered features: candidate matching, screening automation, document detection, profile scoring, and employer recommendations
• Ensure AI systems are built with proper attention to data quality, bias, legal risk, transparency, and GDPR compliance
• Evaluate and select AI tools, APIs, and platforms in collaboration with the Head of Product
• Build the data infrastructure needed to make AI effective — clean, structured, and scalable
   

Business & Product Partnership

• Act as a true partner to the CEO and Head of Product in shaping technical strategy and priorities
• Translate business goals into clear technical requirements and architectural decisions
• Represent Bixter's technical vision in conversations with partners, vendors, and prospective clients

What We're Looking For
Experience & Expertise: 

- 8+ years in software development, with 3+ years as a Tech Lead, Head of Engineering, or CTO
- Proven track record managing external contractors or distributed teams with a clear focus on outcomes
- Deep understanding of modern cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure), microservices, and API integrations
- Hands-on experience delivering AI/LLM solutions to production — not just experiments, but real shipped products
- Experience building or significantly improving DevOps culture and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of CRM/ERP integrations (Odoo experience is a strong plus)
- Ability to write clear technical specifications and architectural documents for external teams

Languages

English — fluent, for daily technical and business communication

Nice to Have

Experience in HR-tech, recruitment-tech, ed-tech, or agri-tech
Odoo or ERP platform experience
Familiarity with GDPR and data compliance in international contexts
Familiarity with Scandinavian business culture
