AI-First Engineer / Product Engineer

We are looking for an AI-first Engineer / Product Engineer to join our client, a fast-growing eCommerce company building modern AI-powered product workflows and scalable production systems.

This is a high-impact product engineering role for someone who enjoys ownership, systems thinking, and building real-world products end-to-end. You’ll work closely with product and non-technical stakeholders, helping shape both customer-facing experiences and internal tooling, while integrating AI into real production workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
 

- Build and ship features using AI-assisted development workflows
- Design scalable, production-ready systems and architecture
- Own features and systems end-to-end — from idea and requirements through to production deployment
- Integrate AI into real production systems, APIs, databases, and async workflows
- Collaborate closely with product managers and non-technical stakeholders
- Make technical decisions balancing speed and product quality
- Work across multiple areas of the product and adapt quickly to changing priorities

Requirements:

- 5–6+ years of commercial software engineering experience
- Strong experience with Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Node.js
- Solid understanding of scalable system design and production architecture
- Experience building high-scale B2C, eCommerce, or product-focused applications
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including writing and optimising raw SQL
- Experience integrating APIs, async workflows, and cloud-based infrastructure
- Good understanding of AWS and modern deployment workflows
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with product stakeholders
- AI-native engineering mindset, actively using tools like Cursor, Claude, or LLM workflows in day-to-day development
- Comfortable context switching and wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving environment

Nice to Have:

- Experience with Shopify ecosystems or integrations
Stripe experience
- Experience building AI-powered workflows, automations, or agent systems
- Startup or high-growth product company experience
