Senior AI/Backend Developer

About the project:

We are seeking a production-focused and highly analytical Senior AI/Backend Developer to join our team for a high-stakes healthcare startup. This role is responsible for architecting and deploying multi-layered voice AI agents that simulate natural, empathetic phone calls for elderly and Medicare patients. You will focus on solving the "uncanny valley" of voice AI, ensuring ultra-low latency so that interactions feel instant and human, rather than like a "thinking" chatbot. This position requires deep expertise in real-time voice technologies, the ability to troubleshoot complex data flows mid-call, and a commitment to maintaining total data integrity within a HIPAA-regulated environment.
 

Does this relate to you?

• You have extensive experience in Voice AI and Backend development, specifically deploying real-time systems to thousands of users.
• Mandatory proficiency in Python and Voice Orchestration tools like Pipecat and Twilio ConversationRelay.
• Deep knowledge of LangGraph for managing complex, multi-agent logic and mid-call hand-offs.
• Proficiency with tools like ClaudeCode, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot to accelerate development and solve complex architectural puzzles.
• Proven ability to optimize RAG pipelines and WebSocket flows to achieve "instant" response times essential for elderly users.
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher with the ability to overlap with US Central Time.

• Knowledge of BAA/HIPAA protocols is essential.

   

A new team member will be in charge of:

• Take full responsibility for the implementation and optimization of Pipecat and Twilio ConversationRelay to ensure natural, low-latency interactions.
• Design and manage multi-agent workflows using LangGraph while ensuring seamless transitions and context retention during mid-call agent hand-offs.
• Develop and own agent tool-call mechanisms with a strict focus on idempotency, retries, and safe failure modes for mission-critical health data.
• Maintain full accountability for data security and privacy protocols within GCP/AWS environments to ensure every deployment adheres to BAA standards.
• Proactively identify latency bottlenecks and initiate architectural improvements to keep the patient experience fluid and reliable.
