Senior Laravel Developer needed to maintain and extend a production health-tech platform built on Laravel, Doctrine ORM, and Vue. The role includes backend feature development, API work, database design, integrations, testing, and legacy code maintenance across patient, consultation, prescription, order, billing, and messaging workflows.
This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable working in a mature codebase, improving architecture carefully, and shipping reliable features without breaking existing flows.
What Youโll Work On
- Build and maintain backend features in a Laravel-based application
- Support a hybrid Laravel + Craft CMS codebase (shortly switching from Laravel+Craft to Pure Laravel);
- Work on patient, consultation, prescription, order, billing, and messaging flows
- Integrate with third-party services such as payment, shipping, analytics, and pharmacy systems
- Improve existing code, refactor legacy areas, and add tests where needed
- Collaborate with frontend and operations to keep the platform stable and fast
- Debug production issues and help with release safety
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend features using Laravel
- Work with Doctrine ORM and existing domain models
- Maintain REST/API endpoints and admin workflows
- Build and optimize database queries, migrations, and data flows
- Support queue jobs, scheduled tasks, and background processing
- Write automated tests and help expand coverage
- Work with legacy integrations and understand business-critical flows
- Review code with an eye toward maintainability, performance, and reliability
Required Skills
- Strong experience with PHP and Laravel
- Proven background building production web applications
- Solid knowledge of MySQL and database design
- Experience with MVC architecture, REST APIs, and authentication/authorization
- Comfortable working in legacy codebases and making incremental improvements
- Experience writing tests in PHPUnit
- Good debugging skills and production support mindset
- Ability to read and work with existing code rather than starting from scratch
Tech Stack
- Backend: PHP 7.x, Laravel 5.5 (currently updating to the latest)
- CMS / hybrid layer: Craft CMS 2.9.2 (removing within next few months)
- ORM: Doctrine ORM
- Templating: TwigBridge / Twig
- Frontend tooling: Laravel Mix, Webpack, SASS
- Frontend libraries: Vue 2 (updating to the latest), jQuery, Ant Design Vue, Select2, Slick/Fancybox-style UI plugins
- Testing: PHPUnit, Cypress
- Inngest for Queue / background jobs: Laravel queues and scheduled commands
- Monitoring / integrations: Sentry, Stripe, S3, analytics and pharmacy integrations
- Database: MySQL
Nice to Have
- Experience with Craft CMS
- Experience working in regulated or health-tech environments
- Familiarity with payment systems like Stripe or Authorize.Net
- Experience with background jobs, refunds, order processing, or subscription-like flows
- Frontend familiarity with Vue 2 and legacy JavaScript
- Experience migrating or stabilizing older PHP applications
