Duels are a core mechanic, not a side feature โ they must feel responsive, clear, and satisfying.
This role owns the duel gameplay experience end-to-end.
About the Role
We're looking for a 3D Designer with hands-on gamedev experience โ not just 3D modeling/visualization. You'll own the character and avatar art pipeline end to end: from the base avatar body and blendshapes to modular outfit skins, purchasable clothing, and animation-ready assets. This is a role at the intersection of art and technology โ everything you create goes straight into Unity on mobile.
What You'll Work On
- Base avatar body with dynamic blendshape-driven customization (body fat, muscle mass, shoulder width, chest, waist, hips, arm/leg thickness)
- Facial blendshapes for avatar mood states and health indicators
- Body blendshapes reflecting user's real body composition
- Avatar skins showing body transformation progress
- Outfit skin sets as separate wearable 3D assets (training, performance, casual, premium)
- Adapting purchasable clothing items, accessories, and appearance elements onto the shared base avatar
- Preparing characters for animation (rigging, skinning, weight painting)
- Preparing assets for asynchronous duel scenes
- Meeting mobile runtime budgets (draw calls, RAM per outfit, texture sizes, 30+ FPS)
Requirements
- 2+ years in game development (not just 3D modeling/visualization)
- Experience creating stylized character models for game engines / Unity
- Understanding of game-ready pipeline: topology, UV, materials, export, real-time optimization
- Hands-on experience with blendshapes / morph targets / shape keys for face and body
- Experience with rigging / skinning and preparing characters for animation
- Experience building modular characters: base body, skins, swappable textures, clothing, accessories
- Ability to adapt purchasable appearance elements (clothing, accessories) onto a custom base avatar
- Understanding how to build a character not as a single model, but as a system that can be extended with new skins, outfits, and parts
Nice to Have
- Experience with avatar customization systems or similar character-based systems
- Experience with mobile / Unity runtime constraints (draw calls, memory, texture budgets)
- Familiarity with Unity asset import, prefab workflows, Addressables
- Substance Painter for texturing
- Understanding of layered avatar composition and shared skeleton/rig architectures
