Full-Stack Developer (PHP/Vue.js, AI-assisted Engineering)

We’re looking for a Full-Stack Developer with a strong engineering mindset and interest in modern development practices, including AI-assisted workflows.

Our client is a well-funded, fast-growing scale-up based in the Netherlands, focused on building technology for monitoring bat populations and other wildlife using audio data.

Their product is used by construction companies to comply with EU environmental regulations, helping reduce the ecological impact of infrastructure projects. This places the company in a niche but rapidly expanding and highly regulated market.

The team is small, experienced, and product-focused, with a strong emphasis on ownership, autonomy, and engineering quality. The company is also actively investing in building a custom AI platform to enhance its technology, without relying on off-the-shelf solutions.

What you'll do in your role:

• Improve and optimize the existing codebase (PHP / Vue.js)
• Take ownership of technical challenges and system improvements.
• Contribute to architectural and technology decisions.
• Support development of a custom AI platform (in-house, non off-the-shelf)
• Apply AI tools in your day-to-day workflow (code generation, debugging, automation)
• Collaborate closely with the Software Manager and the engineering team.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong senior-level software engineering experience (5+ years)
• Have experience with PHP and/or Vue.js.
• Solid backend or full-stack background.
• Experience using AI tools (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT) in development workflows.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Good level of English (both spoken and written)

How to knock our socks off:

• Experience working in small, high-ownership teams.
• Strong, practical use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Exposure to Rust or strong interest in learning it.
• Background in scale-ups or fast-moving product environments.
• Experience with hardware integration or audio/data-heavy systems.
• Pragmatic mindset with focus on delivery and real-world impact.
• Naming five or more dishes that include Beetroot, besides borshch ;)
