Middle Software Engineer (Drupal / WordPress)

Five Jars is open to welcoming an experienced (Middle) self-motivated Software Engineer into our team of professionals. We are looking for an engineer with a solid professional background in both Drupal and WordPress development within a software delivery environment. Also, there is a chance to participate in projects based on Node.js, Vue.js, Nuxt, etc.

This role offers a great mix of work. You’ll keep our existing projects running smoothly (Support & Maintenance) while also building fresh features for new projects.

Goals

• Join our team and help strengthen it with your experience across both CMS platforms.
• Provide high-quality Support & Maintenance: Monitor site health, apply security patches, and resolve bugs for Drupal and WordPress projects.
• Participate in the design and planning of new features for fixed-price projects.
• Produce clear, well-structured, cross-browser, testable, scalable, high-quality code.
• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
• Interact with Project Managers, Tech Leads, QA, Designers and others as needed to resolve blockers and move a project towards a successful finish.
• Help the team meet deadlines and milestones.

Professional Skills & Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years of commercial experience in web development.
• Drupal Expertise: Developing Drupal 9/10+ modules, themes, and distributions; knowledge of Drupal best practices.
• WordPress Expertise: Proficiency in WordPress core, custom theme creation, and plugin development.
• AI Proficiency: Comfort using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate debugging and code optimization.
• Core Stack: Strong coding skills in PHP, MySQL/SQL or PostgreSQL, and strong OOP knowledge (design patterns and principles).
• Front-End: Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind 3/4, and JavaScript/jQuery (concepts like closures, prototyping).
• DevOps: Basic knowledge, such as how to work with Linux, how to work with docker and deploy to a server, etc.
• Tools: Working with Git, Jira, and UNIX systems.
• Language: Upper-Intermediate+ (B2/C1) English level. You must be able to speak well and understand the language to collaborate with international teams. Be ready to participate in clients' meetings.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Working in a friendly and ambitious environment.
• Diagnosing and resolving support issues (bugs, performance) across Drupal and WordPress sites.
• Performing routine maintenance (updates, security patches).
• Developing new features and integrations for fixed-price projects.
• Making technical decisions to best solve tasks efficiently.

• Reviewing work made by other team members (Code Review).
• Being proactive and responsible for the code you write.
