Lead ML/AI Engineer

We’re searching for a senior-level expert to help architect and scale high-performance AI platforms that combine retrieval and generation in innovative ways.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Architect and deploy end-to-end systems for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Build advanced query pipelines using vector databases and search technologies.
• Optimize latency, relevance, and throughput in both real-time and batch inference scenarios.
• Support deployment, observability, and fault-tolerance of inference infrastructure.
• Evaluate and implement modern frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• Work closely with product, research, and engineering teams to bring intelligent systems to production.
• Act as a technical leader: review code, support design decisions, guide team members.
• Participate in technical discovery, POCs, and client-facing architectural planning.
• Help grow the team by interviewing candidates and contributing to R&D initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years in backend or systems engineering (with focus on AI/ML or distributed systems).
• Hands-on expertise building RAG-based applications.
• Solid understanding of vector-based search and dense retrieval.
• Proficiency in Python; knowledge of embedding models, prompt pipelines.
• Deep familiarity with OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or similar engines.
• Experience using vector DBs such as FAISS, Pinecone, or Qdrant.
• Exposure to tuning LLMs or integrating them into production systems.
• Previous work with large-scale, high-load systems is a big advantage.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong focus on reliability, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Upper-intermediate English or higher.
• Based in Ukraine or a Ukrainian abroad.
