Prompt Engineer

As a Prompt Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing the prompts that power our AI systems. You’ll combine language sensitivity with systems thinking to build prompt structures that perform reliably and scale across diverse applications. Success in this role means creating clear, reusable prompt architectures that improve user experiences, minimize risks, and contribute directly to Gene’s strategic growth.

This role is central to our organization: your work defines how users experience Gene. You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering, shaping both internal tools and customer-facing automation with immediate impact.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain prompt architectures that drive AI behavior across core products.
• Build reusable prompt modules and libraries that accelerate experimentation and reduce operational overhead.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to align prompt logic with user goals and technical requirements.
• Identify edge cases and failure modes, implementing safeguards that increase safety and reliability.
• Contribute to evaluation frameworks, testing processes, and documentation to ensure reproducibility and transparency.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in product design, UX, applied linguistics, or AI applications.
• Hands-on experience with GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, or similar large language models.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and structure.
• Experience with iterative workflows, A/B testing, and prompt or model evaluation.
• Ability to independently lead projects from concept to deployment.
• Bonus: experience with low-code tools or prompt templating systems.
