About SlotCatalog

SlotCatalog is a leading intelligence and data platform in the online casino industry. We serve both players and industry stakeholders by tracking slot games, providing performance insights, and managing large-scale structured data. The business is profitable and growing, with strong traction across both SEO and direct industry relationships. We are now expanding into regulated markets, direct media sales, and AI-powered tools.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer who thinks in terms of architecture, ownership, and real production impact, not just task execution.

Role Overview

This role requires architecture-level thinking, responsibility for production systems, and the ability to make technical decisions that directly influence the product and business outcomes.

You will work closely with Product, DevOps, and Data teams, taking ownership of backend services end-to-end: from design and implementation to release, monitoring, and long-term stability.

What You Will Do

• Design and evolve SlotCatalog’s PHP backend running in real production
• Own features and services end-to-end, including releases and post-release stability
• Make and defend technical and architectural decisions
• Translate business goals into scalable and maintainable technical solutions together with Product
• Improve system performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability
• Confidently read, debug, refactor, and modernize existing code
• Participate in deployments, incident handling, and production troubleshooting
• Contribute to architectural standards and best practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of PHP experience in production environments
• Strong knowledge of PHP 8+, OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns
• Proven experience with Laravel and/or Symfony in large codebases
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL / MySQL and relational data modeling
• Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs under real traffic
• Confident use of Git, code reviews, and responsibility for merged code
• Experience working with:
  • Linux environments
  • Docker
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Practicable usage of admin panels builder filament (v.5)
• Ability to diagnose and resolve production issues under pressure

• English C1-C2 is a must

Strong Advantage

•  Experience with SEO-sensitive websites
•  Experience with CMS/admin platforms
•  Experience with high-traffic content or affiliate websites
•  Experience improving old systems without full rewrites

Ownership & Product Mindset

You are a good fit if you:

• Think in terms of outcomes, not just tasks
• Challenge requirements when they are unclear, risky, or inefficient
• Understand how technical decisions impact performance, SEO, data quality, and business metrics
• Are comfortable being fully accountable for what goes to production
• Care about system behavior after release, not only about implementation

Not a Fit If

• You need extremely detailed step-by-step tickets
• You avoid legacy or complex code
• You have never owned features after release
• You are not interested in production stability and real user impact

Most teams are still debating whether AI should write production code. We are past that debate: Claude Code is how we build, every day, across all our products. What we need now are senior engineers who make that fast and correct — and who enjoy being trusted with real responsibility.

alpview it service is a small software company building long-term products for established European companies, mainly in the HR and staffing domain: Laravel backends, Angular portals and Flutter apps, with real users, real contracts and real money moving through them.

WHAT YOU GET

- A long-term contract that works like employment: paid vacation, paid public holidays, a steady full-time workload and reliable monthly payment. No gig hopping, no "we'll see after the sprint"
- Claude Code as your daily tool, with the licence paid by us — in a team that actually uses it well, not one that just wrote a policy about it
- Real ownership: you will own parts of the system, and your technical arguments change how we build. We would rather be convinced than obeyed
- Short decision paths: you talk directly to the people who decide, not through three layers
- Work that matters: production systems where correctness counts — documents, contracts, integrations, money. Interesting problems, not CRUD for its own sake
- Products built to last for years, and more work coming
- Full remote, flexible hours, async-friendly, very few meetings
- A fast, respectful hiring process — no leetcode, no unpaid test assignment (details below)

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You work on our Laravel backends — the core of several products, used by mobile apps and web portals that other developers own. The systems are live or close to it.

The work is a mix of new features, integrations with external systems, and hardening what is already there so that it behaves exactly the way we say it does. There is a lot of meaningful work on the table right now, with fixed client deadlines. For you that means: no waiting for a project to start and no long onboarding queue. After a short introduction you take on real stories and own them end to end — from understanding the requirement to a reviewed, tested and deployed result.

This suits engineers who find their way around an existing codebase quickly, ask the right questions early, and like being handed something important rather than a detailed instruction for every step.

We keep client specifics out of a public posting. You get the full picture, including a walk through the real codebase, in the first conversation.

HOW WE USE CLAUDE CODE

Our pace is genuinely higher than it was a year ago. That raised the bar on the human side, and that is exactly the interesting part of this job: you direct the agent. You review its code the way you would review a junior's PR, you notice when it adds a second service that does what an existing one already does, when a "defensive" try/catch silently swallows the error that mattered, or when a test asserts nothing real — and you say no when saying yes would be faster.

One rule above all: you are responsible for your code. Every line you commit is yours, no matter who or what typed it. "The AI wrote it" is never an explanation for a bug, a security hole or a broken migration. You understand every change before it goes into a pull request, you can explain and defend it in review, and you validate what the agent produced — by reading the diff, running and extending the tests, and checking the behaviour yourself, including the failure paths. The agent makes you faster; it does not take the responsibility off your shoulders.

Good Claude skills are half the job here. If this is how you already work, you will feel at home immediately:

- CLAUDE.md files and project memory you maintain, so the agent knows the house rules
- Your own slash commands, skills and hooks for recurring work
- MCP servers, subagents, worktrees for parallel work, sensible task slicing
- Knowing when to give the agent a long leash and when to keep it to one file
- Handing work over cleanly between sessions so nothing is lost when a context ends

If you use agents well but differently, we want to learn from you. Several developers work on the same codebases in parallel, so we value consistency over cleverness.

WHAT THE CODEBASE IS LIKE

Not a greenfield, and not a rescue mission either.

- Modern Laravel on current PHP, with a real test suite (feature and unit) that runs in CI on every pull request
- MySQL and Redis, queues and scheduled jobs, everything in Docker
- Asynchronous work that has to be right: retries, idempotency, unique jobs, recovery commands for what got stuck. "The job ran twice" is a bug we take seriously
- Webhooks in and out, integrations with external services and enterprise systems
- Document generation and document workflows, with an audit trail
- Multi-tenancy and multiple languages
- Architecture decisions written down as ADRs
- REST APIs consumed by Angular and Flutter clients — so API contracts are discussed, not just changed
- A short written evidence record per story: commit, environment, steps, expected vs. actual, including the negative paths. It is the reason acceptance rounds go smoothly

THE DEAL, IN BOTH DIRECTIONS

Formally this is a long-term freelance contract, as with all our developers in Ukraine. In practice we work together like a good employment: paid vacation, paid public holidays, a steady workload, and a cooperation meant to last for years. You are a member of the team, not an external resource.

We ask for the same commitment back:

- This is your main engagement, not one of several projects you juggle. If something else starts competing for your time, tell us first
- Transparent working hours: you track your time in a way we can follow, and you say early when you are behind or unavailable. That is what makes paid vacation and flexible hours possible
- Ownership when it counts: occasionally, when a release is in flight or something breaks in production, that can mean an evening. It is the exception, and those hours come back to you as time off, whenever it suits you

WHAT YOU BRING

- 6+ years of professional PHP, of which at least 3 with Laravel in production
- Real production experience with Claude Code or a comparable agent workflow — daily work where the agent writes a large share of the code and you validate and own the result
- Solid architecture and review instincts: service boundaries, testability, and the discipline to match an existing pattern instead of inventing a better one
- Queues, jobs and scheduling in depth: retries, timeouts, idempotency, failure handling
- MySQL beyond CRUD: migrations on live data, indexes, transactions, locking
- Testing with PHPUnit or Pest that tests behaviour, not implementation
- Docker, CI pipelines, pull requests and code review as normal daily practice
- Careful handling of secrets and personal data (GDPR is a real constraint here, not a footnote)
- You become productive quickly in an unfamiliar codebase and take responsibility without being micromanaged
- Available to start soon
- English B2+, and the willingness to argue a technical trade-off rather than only execute a ticket

Nice to have: German; HR, staffing or ERP domain experience; e-signature or document workflows; enough Angular or Flutter to read the client side; your own MCP servers or agent tooling.

REQUIRED SKILLS EXPERIENCE

- PHP — 6 years
- Laravel — 3 years
- MySQL — 4 years
- Claude Code / AI-assisted development — 1 year

We actively use Claude and AI-assisted engineering workflows every day. This is a core part of our development culture.

AI tools already cover much of routine engineering work.
We are looking for engineers who can think critically, make product decisions, improve systems, and drive execution.

Alcor is global engineering infrastructure for technology companies building international engineering organizations as true in-house teams — not outsourcing. We help ambitious product companies hire senior engineers across Eastern Europe & Latin America who become full members of the team from day one, wearing the company hoodie, not a vendor badge.

Trusted by unicorns like Teladoc, Ledger, Pindrop, People.ai, UFORCE and by private-equity firms such as NMC ($50B AUM) who send us their portfolio companies for fast, cost-efficient ramp-ups in the region.

We make it happen through:

• Senior technical recruiting — sourcing the top 10% of engineering talent across Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina.
• Embedded employment infrastructure (EOR/COR) — so clients can hire compliantly in a new country without opening a local entity themselves.
• Local operational & compliance execution — legal, tax, and HR handled on the ground across every market we operate in.
• Equipment purchases, office rent & other back-office support.

Information about the project:
Building Alcor OS is strategically positioned to be one of the top priorities for Alcor. Alcor OS is our all-in-one platform for managing every contractor we place: contracts, approvals, payroll, time off, and reporting, all in one place, replacing the Excel files and long email threads that global workforce management usually runs on. Unlike traditional CRM systems, Alcor OS is designed to be a technically complex solution, setting a new standard in global workforce management.

We are hiring an experienced engineer to lead the technical strategy of Alcor OS. In this role, you will be responsible for defining the tech vision, and product architecture, crafting and executing a technology roadmap, and overseeing the development team. As a key member of our dedicated Alcor OS team, you will contribute to the strategic direction of our company and play a pivotal role in building a best-in-class contractor management platform. Join us in reshaping the future!

Responsibilities:

• Own delivery for Alcor OS — scope the work, sequence it realistically, and tell us early when something's going to slip;
• Own production health — reliability, performance, security, and technical debt are your calls to make and your outcomes to answer for;
• Set the technical bar for a small team (2 engineers, 2 QAs today) — this isn't a management role, but you'll mentor, unblock, and have a say in hiring as the team grows.
• Direct reporting and close cooperation with the COO.

Qualifications:

• Technical Expertise: proven track record of solving complex technical challenges.
• Entrepreneurship mindset (self-driven): ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, ability to balance technical excellence with business needs, with proven ability to push new initiatives and manage ongoing projects.
• Innovative Thinking (AI): ability to suggest innovative solutions & improvements, staying updated on the latest industry trends and technologies.
• Strategic Vision: capability to align technical strategies with overall business objectives.
• Communication and Collaboration: ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience Security: understanding of how to design and build secure systems.
• People leadership: comfortable raising the level of the people around you — mentoring, unblocking, and having the honest conversation when something isn't good enough.

Requirements:

We need someone who can go deep on PHP and also step back and own the whole system. Years of Laravel experience matter less to us than how you think.

Baseline:

• 4+ years as a Tech Lead, Principal Engineer, or Architect — owning architecture decisions, not just delivering tickets as a senior engineer;
• 8+ years writing PHP professionally, with real depth in Laravel — you should be able to explain what's happening under the framework, not just use it;
• Comfortable with (or genuinely excited to quickly get comfortable with) Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, and Event Sourcing — our platform's write side lives in event streams and aggregates, not Eloquent models with mutable rows. You don't need prior production experience with this exact stack, but I've read about it isn't enough either;
• Comfortable working across cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent) — compute, storage, and networking trade-offs, not just spinning up services;
• Practical experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar);
• Strong relational data modeling in MySQL, and — because much of our state is event-sourced — comfort modeling aggregates and domain events, not just normalized tables. For a product like Alcor OS, this modeling is the product;
• A real testing discipline (TDD/BDD, PHPUnit or equivalent) end to end — from unit tests around domain logic up to browser-level E2E (Playwright or equivalent) around real user flows. With an architecture like ours, tests are what let you change things with confidence instead of hoping;
• GitHub-based CI/CD workflows.

What we weigh more than any of the above:

• System design — can you take a fuzzy business problem (e.g. handle payroll across 40 clients with different rules) and turn it into an architecture with real trade-offs, not a diagram from a course;
• Data architecture — how you'd model something like contracts, approvals, payroll, and time tracking, where a wrong schema quietly breaks the platform months later;
• Helicopter view — can you step back from a single feature and see how it touches the rest of the system, other teams, and where it'll hurt a year from now;
• Judgment on AI-generated code — this isn't have you used Copilot. Our engineering process is built around AI agents that plan, implement, test, and review code alongside us. We need someone who can direct that process, catch when it's confidently wrong, and take full ownership of anything that ships — regardless of who or what drafted it first.

What We Offer:

Culture: Join a supportive and driven team with a strong corporate culture built on openness, collaboration, self-development, and shared ambition.
Tool subscriptions: access to paid AI tools and other platforms to boost efficiency and support learning.
Terms: we offer a flexible 8-hour work schedule.
Time Off Benefits: 20 fully covered days off, 3 additional days off, fully paid sick leave, days off for all national public holidays, a mental health day off to recharge after stressful events.
Pet-friendly office in Kyiv: if you are in Kyiv, bring your furry friends to work with you.
Supporting Ukraine: we proudly donate monthly to the Armed Forces, supporting colleagues' fundraising projects.
IT kit provided: we equip you with devices for work.

Recruitment flow:

• HR interview;
• A code assignment;
• Technical interview;
• Final Interview with the COO, HRD, and Product Manager.

If building a best-in-class platform from a technical leadership position sounds like your next move — apply now!
