About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Forward-Deployed Engineer/Solutions Architect  to own customer onboarding and site performance optimization for a cutting-edge edge-performance platform.

In this role, you will investigate e-commerce storefronts, design and implement caching strategies, lead customer launches, validate performance improvements, and serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey.

We are looking for a Software Architect / Technical Architect to join our startup on a part-time basis.

We already have a working MVP version of the product. It has helped us validate the main idea, test the core business logic, and better understand what needs to be improved before moving to the next stage.

Right now, we are building a development team to modernize the current product, improve the existing MVP, and develop new modules. At this stage, we need an experienced technical person who can look at the project from a higher level, understand where we are now, and help us design the right architecture for the future.

At the first stage, we need you to:

You will own architecture and end-to-end delivery for the distributed, event-driven services and real-time data-analytics workloads that power the school. The actual code is increasingly written by AI — your real job is defining problems precisely, orchestrating agents, and maintaining quality across parallel workflows. ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a technology-driven consumer company transforming fragrance discovery through a digital subscription platform. It also operates a portfolio of innovative fragrance and lifestyle brands focused on quality, individuality, and sustainability.

We are looking for a hands-on Principal Platform Architect to own the platform architecture and drive AI-enabled capabilities across the engineering organization. 

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will establish engineering standards, guide cross-team technical decisions, and lead a platform team of two engineers while remaining deeply involved in system design and implementation.

The goal is to help the business scale through technology and AI without proportional growth in engineering headcount.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 3-4+ years in a Principal, Staff, or Platform Architect role
• Deep hands-on Java expertise, including JVM performance, concurrency, and service design
• Experience with Micronaut or Spring Boot
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, REST/GraphQL APIs, service mesh, and AWS cloud-native patterns

Work format

This role starts with a paid test task / small project.

We are not hiring immediately for a permanent full-time role. First, we want to see how you think, how you design ClickUp architecture, how independently you work, and how well you can deliver a working result.

If the test project is successful, this can grow into a larger project-based engagement and potentially long-term full-time cooperation.

Full-time cooperation is possible later, but only after successful project-based work and proven results.

Remote work.

Timezone overlap with U.S. Central Time is important.

Test task

The test task will be related to designing and building a small but real part of the ClickUp operating system.

Possible test task:

• Review one business process
• Design the ClickUp structure for that process
• Define Lists, statuses, custom fields, relationships, views, and dashboards
• Suggest automation logic
• Build a working prototype in ClickUp
• Explain what should be stored in ClickUp as the source of truth
• Explain what data should be sent to other tools through automations

The test task is not only about clicking buttons in ClickUp. We want to see system thinking, business understanding, architecture, and ability to deliver a working structure.

Compensation

The first step will be a paid test task / small project.

After that, compensation can be project-based, hourly, monthly, or full-time depending on experience, availability, and results.
