Qail.ai detects AI agent intent on ecommerce sites and streamlines the buying flow so agents (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, custom shopping agents) can transact reliably on behalf of their users. We need an engineer who has shipped real ecommerce systems — ideally on Shopify — and can own the backend, real-time detection pipeline, and merchant-facing infrastructure.

What you'll do 

Design and ship the systems that sit between AI agents and ecommerce storefronts. Build the agent detection and intent classification pipeline — identifying agent traffic in real time, distinguishing browse from buy intent, and routing requests through agent-optimized flows. Own the backend API that Shopify merchants integrate with, the data storage layer, and the integration surface across Shopify (and adjacent platforms). Build and maintain the Next.js merchant dashboard. Scale from pilot deployments to production traffic across thousands of stores.

Must have

• Hands-on ecommerce engineering experience — you've built and operated production systems on a real storefront, not just adjacent to one
• Deep Shopify experience: Storefront API, Admin API, GraphQL, App Bridge, checkout extensibility, theme app extensions, webhooks, and the realities of operating a Shopify app at scale (rate limits, API versioning, partner/app review)
• Solid grasp of the ecommerce data model — products, variants, inventory, carts, checkouts, orders, fulfillments, discounts, taxes
• Python (FastAPI or similar async framework)
• Designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency APIs in production
• Docker / Docker Compose on bare metal or cloud (Hetzner, AWS, etc.)

• Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and real-time systems
• Design data models and flows across PostgreSQL and MongoDB based on access patterns, consistency needs, and scale
• Build real-time gameplay and transaction features using WebSockets and event-driven patterns
• Apply backend best practices — clean architecture, SOLID, KISS, testing, logging, and monitoring — pragmatically, not dogmatically
• Own features end-to-end — from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and iteration in production
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and AWS infrastructure for the services you own
• Collaborate directly with product, business, and compliance stakeholders to shape what gets built
• Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) to raise both velocity and quality

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with strong fluency in modern .NET (C# / .NET 6+)
• Demonstrated experience owning system design and architecture decisions on production systems
• Strong experience with both PostgreSQL and MongoDB — including schema design, indexing, and choosing between them based on workload
• Experience building real-time systems with WebSockets
• Track record of taking complex features end-to-end: design, implementation, deployment, and production ownership
• Ability to choose and justify a tech stack rather than just consume one
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a bias toward simple, correct solutions
• Comfortable with full ownership in a lean startup environment — no hand-holding, no hiding
• Experience with or strong willingness to adopt AI coding tools
• Independent, proactive, opinionated, and solution-oriented

Nice to Have: 

• Experience in gaming, sweepstakes, fintech, or high-scale B2C platforms
• Experience with AWS (ECS, RDS, etc.)

We're seeking a skilled Frontend Engineer to join the internal product team of a fast-growing tech company. You'll play a key role in building embeddable web solutions and SDK-style products used across external platforms and partner integrations. If you're excited about creating scalable Web Components and solving complex frontend architecture challenges while working with modernized WordPress ecosystems — this role is for you.

Core Competence:

• 2–5 years of commercial frontend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Web Components, including Custom Elements and Shadow DOM in production environments.
• Deep understanding of slots, lifecycle callbacks, attribute reflection, and CSS scoping inside Shadow DOM.
• Practical experience building SDKs or embeddable products such as widgets, chats, forms, or media players integrated into third-party websites.
• Understanding of challenges specific to embeddable products, including CORS, CSP, CSS/JS conflicts with host applications, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript for daily development.
• Strong knowledge of PHP and commercial experience with WordPress development.
• Experience developing or integrating custom WordPress themes, plugins, or backend functionality.
• Experience with modern build tooling such as Vite, Rollup, or esbuild.
• Understanding of tree-shaking, bundle size optimization, and frontend performance best practices.
• Solid knowledge of Fetch API, async/await, and modern browser APIs.
• Experience working with Git and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or similar.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to scalability and maintainability.
• English level sufficient for reading technical documentation and writing technical README/documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Lit or Stencil (or willingness to quickly learn Lit).
• Familiarity with map technologies such as MapLibre GL, Mapbox, Leaflet, or Google Maps.
• Understanding of geocoding and geospatial queries.
• Experience with accessibility best practices, including ARIA and keyboard navigation.
• Experience implementing i18n and multilingual interfaces.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as Vitest or Playwright.
• Experience publishing npm packages and working with CDN infrastructure (CloudFront, Cloudflare, etc.).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience modernizing or extending legacy WordPress-based platforms.
