Role Purpose

The Head of Technical Operations & Data Management is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimising the company’s operational and data infrastructure, ensuring that every click, lead, and sale is accurately tracked, validated, and reported.

This is a technical leadership role that sits at the heart of the business, connecting marketing execution, client delivery, and technical architecture into one cohesive system.

You will work alongside the CTO to manage and evolve database structures, ensuring scalability, integrity, and automation across all systems. Core Responsibilities: Operational Delivery

• Oversee end to end delivery of marketing and sales operations, ensuring performance targets are supported by robust systems.
• Design and refine workflows that ensure smooth communication and data flow between departments.
• Monitor lead pacing and delivery volumes, adjusting processes or system logic where needed.
• Implement and enforce quality control standards for data accuracy and system consistency.

• Develop and maintain operational documentation, process maps, and SOPs to support scalability and training.
• Identify and resolve process bottlenecks, using automation or structural improvements where possible.

Database Management & Reconciliation

• Work closely with the CTO to design and maintain scalable, high performance database architectures.
• Build and optimise relational databases (primarily in MySQL) for speed, accuracy, and scalability.
• Develop and manage data pipelines that aggregate data from multiple systems, including marketing platforms, CRMs, analytics tools, and partner APIs.
• Create and manage ETL processes (extract, transform, load) to maintain clean and consistent data flow.
• Implement strict data validation, deduplication, and hygiene routines to ensure accurate reporting.
• Conduct daily and weekly reconciliations between ad spend, lead delivery, sales outcomes, and partner reported results.
• Build and maintain APIs or scripts using PHP and JavaScript to automate data exchange between systems.
• Collaborate with the CTO on version control, database schema design, and integration testing.
• Ensure GDPR compliance and data security standards are upheld across all systems.
• Produce comprehensive documentation on database design, reconciliation logic, and automation routines.

Reporting & Automation

• Create and maintain automated dashboards that visualise performance across marketing, sales, and client delivery.
• Implement real time tracking and attribution systems that connect ad spend to verified outcomes.
• Develop automation scripts to reduce manual tasks and improve reporting efficiency.
• Maintain reporting environments in Looker Studio, Power BI, or internal visualisation tools.
• Provide leadership with accurate, timely performance reports, reconciling all data sources.

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Database Engineer to join the team. 

Reporting to the Team Lead the Database Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of our database systems, which support global geoscience data products and services as part of a SaaS offering. This role requires a strong focus on building and maintaining ETL workflows, database replication, and synchronisation.

Successful candidates will be evidently enthusiastic and motivated people who we can train up in our processes and ultimately play a key role in quality assurance initiatives across different stakeholder groups.

• Responsibilities:

  Database Architecture and Development
  • Database design and modelling, including schema design and relationship modelling
  • Write and optimise stored procedures, views, and functions for performance
  • Proficient in ETL and related tools
  • Experience with database replication and synchronisation
  Database Management & Maintenance
  • Administer, monitor, and optimize SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL databases.
  • Perform regular database backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning alongside DevOps team members
  • Ensure high availability and performance of database systems.
  Data Integrity & Security
  • Implement and maintain database security protocols, including access controls and encryption alongside DevOps team members to ensure alignment with SOC2 standards
  • Monitor for potential vulnerabilities and apply patches and updates as needed.
  Development Support
  • Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to support data workflows, data delivery and application development.
  Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
  • Apply monitoring and logging tools to identify and remediate issues
  • Monitor system health and respond to alerts and incidents alongside DevOps team members
  Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal data governance and external regulatory requirements.

• Mandatory Skills Description:

  • Proven experience as a Database Engineer, Architect, or DBA, ideally in a scientific or data-intensive environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Extensive experience in designing and building relational databases
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

• Nice-to-Have Skills Description:

  • Experience with AWS cloud-based database solutions.
  • Experience with Databases as Code
  • Understanding of data lifecycle management and SOC2 security standards.
  • Familiarity with geoscience disciplines, geospatial data and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) is advantageous.
  • Scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with Gitlab.
  • Knowledge of Spotfire data visualization platform or alternative dashboard solutions.
  • Awareness of Agile delivery methodologies.

About the role
As a Middle Database Administrator, you’ll play a key role in keeping our CRM and Marketing Hub running efficiently by maintaining clean data, optimizing workflows, and supporting daily operations across marketing, sales, and operations teams. You’ll help streamline processes, improve campaign execution, and ensure our HubSpot ecosystem stays organized, accurate, and scalable. What you will do

• Maintain and optimize HubSpot CRM structure, workflows, properties, and lists;
• Ensure clean, accurate data through regular audits, deduplication, and database organization;
