Data Science UA is a service company with deep expertise in AI and Data Science. Our story started in 2016 with the first Data Science UA Conference in Kyiv, and since then, we've built one of the largest AI communities in Europe.

About the Role:
We are looking for an Operations Director to the client’s team.
The operations directorate will be built from scratch.
This is a senior build mandate. We are looking for an operator who has consolidated scattered operational functions into a managed directorate before, and who can do it in an organisation that has not previously had documented processes.

Responsibilities:
- Build and consolidate the service perimeter.
- Branch network: format, operating standards, cash discipline, limits, service speed.
- Cash logistics and transportation, resource availability across locations.
- Payment infrastructure: consolidation from business lines, legal and electronic rails.
- Customer support, customer experience and the contact centre.
- Define the target operating model for the directorate and build the management team under it.
- Create a single point of resolution for client requests, replacing the current sequential chain of approvals between units.
- Define service levels towards business lines and the commercial function: targets, measurement, impact on remuneration.
- Document and standardise core operational processes where none currently exist.
- Own cost per transaction and the operational cost base.
- Build the performance measurement system for service functions and the reporting behind it.
- Cascade group objectives into operational units.
- Arbitrate priorities between business lines and shared infrastructure.
- Operational readiness for entry into new markets.
- Automation of operational processes together with the product and technology functions.
- Build and develop the operations leadership bench.

Requirements:
Must have:
- 12+ years in operations, including 5+ years leading operations in an organisation of 500+ employees.
- Built an operations function from a low base — not inherited a mature one.
- Consolidated operational functions out of business units into a shared directorate, including managing the political resistance that comes with it.
- Managed a distributed network: branches, service points or regional operations.
- Implemented service levels and performance metrics for internal service functions.
- Documented and standardised processes in an environment where none existed.
- Owned operational cost and unit economics of transactions.
- Working English.

Nice to have:
- Financial services, banking, payments or a retail network with cash operations.
- Experience with cash handling, cash logistics and custody of valuables.
- Operational support of expansion into new jurisdictions.
- Process automation and systems implementation experience.

What the client offers:
- A directorate to design and build from the ground up.
- Direct reporting line to the CEO and a seat at the management committee.
- Full authority over the service perimeter and the mandate to consolidate it.
- A visible, measurable problem to solve with clear commercial impact.

We are looking for a Head of Engineering / CTO with strong engineering experience, product vision, and practical AI expertise to join our client’s team and lead the technical development of their in-production cybersecurity platform.

What Matters to Us

• Hands-on Technical Leadership. You can lead and mentor a team while staying close to the architecture and code. You know how to evolve a live, paying product without breaking production.
• Agentic Development Culture. You actively use and champion AI coding agents and automation workflows. You know how to equip a lean team with AI tools so we can ship at the speed of a much larger organization.
• Fast Product Experimentation. You connect technology to business metrics. You know how to quickly test hypotheses, roll out lean features to real users, measure impact, and iterate fast.
• Applied AI Engineering. You have practical experience building production features with LLMs, AI agents, and automation—balancing output quality, latency, token unit economics, and strict data privacy.
• System & Stack Proficiency. Solid background in JS/TS, Python, modern databases, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise integrations (M365, Google Workspace, SSO/SCIM). You know when to build custom solutions vs. use ready-made services or low-code.
• Security & Enterprise Trust. Selling a cybersecurity product requires a rock-solid platform. You understand multi-tenant data isolation, Zero-Trust principles, and compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, EU AI Act).
• Broad Ownership. In a lean team, you wear multiple hats—comfortably switching between system architecture, DevOps/cloud costs, enterprise security calls with clients, and day-to-day delivery.

Your Focus

• Velocity & Agentic Workflows: Maintaining an AI-first engineering process that maximizes the speed and quality of our lean team.
• Product Experiments & AI Features: Building and testing new AI-driven simulations, coaching workflows, and risk analytics to drive revenue growth.
• Architecture & Reliability: Keeping our production platform secure, scalable, and cost-efficient as our customer base grows.
• Business & Enterprise Support: Partnering with founders on product strategy, roadmap, and technical due diligence with enterprise customers.

Nice to Have

• Experience in Cybersecurity, B2B SaaS, or EdTech / Security Awareness.
• Track record of scaling a post-revenue product with a small team.
• Experience passing SOC 2 / ISO 27001 audits or enterprise CISO security reviews.
• Your own founder or startup background.

What We Offer

• Mature Product, Zero Bureaucracy: Work on a live, profitable product with real customers and fast decision-making.
• Strategic Influence: Direct partnership with the founders and full ownership of the technical and AI vision.
• Remote & Flexible: Full-time or part-time/fractional engagement in a fully remote format.
• Individual Terms: We will tailor the collaboration format, compensation, and potential equity/bonuses to fit your goals. We are open to your proposals.

Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have Attributes
- Experience: 15+ years of proven experience across software engineering, architecture, product/platform engineering, or solution architecture, backed by a strong track record of product-side delivery.
- SDLC Mastery: Deep, foundational understanding of enterprise software architecture, DevSecOps pipelines, Agile/Scrum frameworks, and the broader product lifecycle.
- Hands-on AI Fluency: Direct, practical fluency with AI development tools, IDE-based AI assistants, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled software delivery. You must possess the ability to build, evaluate, and deeply explain working AI solutions.
- Modern AI Tech Stack: Experience leveraging tools and frameworks such as Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, LangChain, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, MCP (Model Context Protocol), RAG, and vector databases.
- Hands on in Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Databases, Evaluation Frameworks, Prompt Engineering, Tool Calling, Function Calling, Multi-agent orchestration, AI Observability

Good-to-Have Skills
- Customer-Facing Excellence: Prior experience in high-touch, customer-facing technical roles (e.g., Forward-Deployed Engineer, Principal Solutions Architect, Field Engineer, or Pre-Sales Engineering Leader).
- AI Governance & Security: A strong grasp of AI governance models, human-in-the-loop controls, responsible AI frameworks, observability, and production readiness for AI-enabled enterprise systems.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
1. Client Engagement & Strategic Architecture

- Identify AI Opportunities: Work directly with customer engineering, product, architecture, and executive teams to diagnose SDLC bottlenecks and map out high-value areas for AI-led acceleration.
- Design & Build Proofs of Concept: Act as a hands-on builder to design, develop, and deliver working proofs utilizing modern AI engineering tools, agentic workflows, and automation frameworks.
- Lead the Intent-Driven Transition: Guide clients away from rigid, manual sprint mechanics toward fluid, intent-driven delivery loops capable of autonomously generating plans, code, tests, documentation, and validation artifacts.

2. Value Measurement & Executive Alignment

- Quantify AI Impact: Define, measure, and report on hard engineering acceleration outcomes, including reduced cycle times, faster story-to-code conversion, improved automated testing, and accelerated code reviews.
- Technical & Executive Presentation: Communicate complex technical approaches, agentic architectures, proof results, and long-term adoption strategies to both engineering teams and C-level stakeholders.
