Senior Transformation Strategist
We're looking for a Senior Transformation Strategist to join a fast-growing AI company as the bridge between enterprise executives and an AI operations platform. You'll work directly with COOs, CFOs and operations leaders at major retail and CPG brands. Your job is to find and size the trapped value in their operational data, then turn it into a clear roadmap the platform delivers against. The role suits someone trained at a top-tier consulting firm who has owned real numbers in short, high-stakes cycles such as due diligence, value creation or portfolio operations. You'll combine executive advisory, commercial ownership and hands-on problem-solving, without a partner in the room. It's a rare chance to bring consulting-grade rigour into a product company and shape how AI changes enterprise retail operations.
Details:
- Schedule: Full time
- Location: Hybrid (London office + 3โ4 days/week of travel to client sites) or remote in EU
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Long-term
- English: Fluent
About the project:
The company is a freshly funded Series A startup of about 70 people building an AI operations platform for enterprise retail and CPG brands. Its AI agents work inside clients' operational workflows, automating decisions and unlocking value hidden in complex operational data. After building a strong customer base in Europe, the company is now expanding into the US market. The team combines AI engineering with deep commercial and operational know-how, and this role sits right where the two meet. The culture is fast-moving and builder-oriented, with short decision cycles and a real chance to shape strategy as the company scales.
You have:
- A top-tier consulting background (ideally McKinsey, BCG or Bain), with at least 2 years at Engagement Manager, Project Leader or Principal level
- At least 4 projects in the Retail or CPG domain
- A track record of owning a number (revenue, margin, cost or working capital) in short, high-stakes cycles such as due diligence, value creation or portfolio operations
- Proven commercial and sales skills, including authority-based selling to C-level executives (COOs, CFOs) without a partner present
- Strong executive communication and boardroom presence
- Strong business case modelling and the ability to structure messy data and do the maths live
- Willingness to travel to client sites 3โ4 days a week
Nice to have:
- Experience with PE-backed portfolio operations
- Earlier hands-on years inside a retailer or grocer (category, trading, merchandising or supply chain, owning SKUs, suppliers or a P&L line) before moving into consulting
- A builder's streak: a product, startup or operating role you built outside of work
- Daily use of AI tools, with a view on why you pick particular models for particular tasks
- Background at firms like AlixPartners, Alvarez & Marsal, QuantumBlack, Palantir or Celonis
What to do:
- Work directly with customer executives to understand their operations and priorities
- Identify, size and prioritise the trapped value in clients' operational data and workflows
- Build business cases and turn opportunities into a clear, value-driven roadmap for the AI platform
- Own executive relationships and run commercial conversations, including selling to C-level leaders
- Lead short, high-stakes problem-solving cycles from diagnosis to recommendation to measurable impact
- Expand accounts by finding the next set of workflows to automate after the first wins
- Work with product and engineering teams so customer insights shape the platform roadmap
- Drive change management with client stakeholders so the solutions get adopted and keep delivering value
- Support the company's US expansion by building trusted relationships with new enterprise customers
