Senior PHP/Laravel Engineer

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Senior PHP/Laravel Engineer.

About the Project:

Healthcare technology company developing new efficiency-focused applications and services. The initial projects include an insurance automation platform and a secure document management platform. The solutions are primarily built with Laravel and integrate with existing legacy systems.

Responsibilities:

- Design and develop backend applications and services using PHP and Laravel.

- Take ownership of application architecture and system design.

- Build and maintain APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.

- Design and work with MySQL databases.

- Develop new applications and services from the ground up.

- Integrate new Laravel services with existing legacy systems.

- Build straightforward frontend functionality when required.

- Translate requirements into technical solutions.

- Clarify requirements and communicate directly with stakeholders.

- Drive assigned projects forward without significant technical supervision.

- Collaborate with backend engineers, frontend engineers, DevOps, and a Project Manager.

- Participate in Agile development, two-week sprints, stand-ups, and regular project communication.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience with Laravel.

- Strong commercial experience with PHP.

- Strong experience with MySQL.

- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and system itegrations.

- Experience building applications or platforms from the ground up.

- Strong understanding of backend architecture and system design.

- Ability to take ownership of a project and work with minimal supervision.

- Ability to independently investigate problems, ask the right questions, and make technical decisions.

- Experience delivering end-to-end web applications.

- Senior-level engineering experience.

Nice to Have:

- Any experience with React.

- Experience with Vue.js.

- Experience with Laravel Livewire.

- Experience working with legacy systems and brownfield environments.

- Previous experience with healthcare, insurance, document management, or workflow automation systems.
