Payment Analyst

We are looking for a Payment Analyst who will be responsible for tracking, calculating and reconciling all payment-related financial data.

The main responsibility of this role is to maintain accurate calculations of payment processing costs, refunds, chargebacks, alerts, PSP fees, reserves and settlements, and ensure that all payment-related expenses are correctly reflected in the company's financial reporting.

This role is similar to a financial accountant focused on payment processing.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with large amounts of transaction data, Excel / Google Sheets and reports from multiple PSPs and payment providers.

Experience with payment processing is a strong plus, but we are also open to strong financial analysts or accountants who are willing to learn the specifics of the payment industry.

Key Responsibilities

1. Payment Financial Accounting

Track and calculate all financial data related to payment processing, including:

• Payment volume.
• Number of transactions.
• Processing fees.
• PSP fees.
• Gateway fees.
• MDR.
• Refunds.
• Refund fees.
• Chargebacks.
• Chargeback fees.
• Chargeback alert fees.
• 3DS-related fees.
• Rolling reserves.
• Other payment-related expenses.
• PSP settlements and payouts.

The main goal is to ensure that every payment-related cost is correctly calculated and included in the financial model.

2. Refund & Chargeback Calculations

Maintain accurate calculations for:

Refunds:

• Refunded transaction amount.
• Refund fees.
• Non-refundable processing fees.
• Related costs where applicable.

Chargebacks:

• Chargeback transaction amount.
• Chargeback fees.
• Alert fees.
• Other related costs.

The analyst should calculate the total financial impact of refunds and chargebacks rather than simply recording their number.

3. Payment Fees & Commissions

Track and calculate all commissions and fees charged by PSPs and payment providers.

This includes:

• Fixed transaction fees.
• Percentage-based processing fees.
• MDR.
• PSP commissions.
• Gateway fees.
• Refund fees.
• Chargeback fees.
• Alert fees.
• Other provider fees.
