Project manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of our Making Tax Digital (MTD) platform — a solution designed to help UK businesses and accountants comply with HMRC's digital tax requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, compliance, QA, and product, to ensure the platform meets regulatory standards and delivers a seamless user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end project lifecycle for the MTD platform, from planning through delivery and post-launch support
• Coordinate with development, QA, compliance, and design teams to ensure timely and high-quality releases
• Track project scope, timelines, budgets, and risks, proactively addressing blockers
• Liaise with stakeholders to translate HMRC regulatory requirements into actionable development tasks
• Manage the product backlog and prioritize features in collaboration with the Product Owner
• Facilitate agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
• Ensure compliance with HMRC's MTD technical specifications and API standards
• Prepare status reports and present progress to senior stakeholders and leadership
• Identify process improvements to increase team efficiency and delivery quality

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in software development, ideally within fintech, taxtech, or regulatory compliance projects
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Familiarity with UK tax regulations and HMRC's Making Tax Digital initiative is a strong advantage
• Experience working with cross-functional and distributed teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, Confluence, Trello, or similar)
• PMP, PRINCE2, or Scrum Master certification is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Experience with API integrations 
• Background in accounting software or fintech products
• Knowledge of GDPR and UK data protection requirements
