Database Administrator / MS SQL Consultant

Database Administrator / MS SQL Consultant out staff for a US-based client, 2 months contract with possibility of extension.

Start: Immediate 

Duration: Minimum 2 months 

Hours: Burstable, varying week to week, up to 40 hrs/week 

Location: Remote, working on-premises client systems via VPN

Environment

• MS SQL Server 2014 on Windows Server 2012 R2 (primary database server)
• Fully on-premises infrastructure accessed via VPN; very limited Azure footprint
• 5–6 servers, fewer than 10 databases, with a large number of integrations between systems
• Home-grown applications built on ColdFusion; third-party projects connecting via API and ODBC calls

Key Responsibilities

• Ramp up quickly with minimal onboarding and independently diagnose reported database issues
• Support and troubleshoot integrations between servers, databases, and applications
• Coordinate with third-party developers connecting via API/ODBC
• Communicate proactively and clearly with client team members and external project partners — a critical part of the role

Ideal Profile

• Strong hands-on MS SQL Server administration experience (comfortable with legacy versions — 2014 era)
• Experience with Windows Server environments and integration-heavy architectures (API, ODBC)
• Able to work independently with very limited onboarding
• Strong communicator; comfortable working across internal teams and external vendors
