Senior Java Tech Lead / Lead Architect

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Tech Lead / Lead Architect to join a long-term enterprise project for one of our global consulting clients.

Initially, you will participate in discovery activities and help define the technical direction of the project. As development ramps up, you will transition into a key technical leadership role, driving architecture decisions, technical execution, and helping scale the engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to shape a large-scale enterprise platform from the early stages while remaining hands-on with development.

Project Overview

The project focuses on the maintenance and further development of complex enterprise calculator applications written in Java.

The platform is used by approximately 300 international corporate clients and supports business-critical functionality, including:

• Tax compliance (JPK generation)
• Financial reporting
• Complex financial calculations and statements
• Enterprise business workflows

The team will initially consist of 1–2 dedicated Java engineers and is expected to grow to approximately five specialists as the platform expands.

What You'll Do

• Lead the technical direction of the project
• Participate in discovery sessions and architecture discussions with the client
• Design scalable and maintainable enterprise solutions
• Develop and maintain Java applications
• Review code and establish engineering best practices
• Support technical decision-making across the team
• Collaborate closely with client stakeholders and business representatives
• Help build and scale the engineering team as the project grows
• Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability

Requirements

• 8+ years of commercial Java development experience
• Proven experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Developer, Lead Architect, or similar senior technical role
• Strong experience designing and maintaining enterprise Java applications
• Experience leading technical discovery and solution design
• Strong understanding of software architecture and enterprise application design
• Experience working directly with enterprise clients and stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills
• English level B2 or higher
• Located within the EU
