Backend Fullstack Developer Shopify AI Automation

We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join our tech team and lead the development of internal systems, integrations, automations, and software infrastructure for our company and for leading eCommerce brands.
 

This is not a Shopify website-building role.

We're looking for a developer who can take a complex business need — ERP sync, a subscription system, an advanced checkout flow, or an internal AI tool — and turn it into a stable, secure, and maintainable system. The role covers backend services, APIs, integrations, Shopify Apps, ETL pipelines, automations, and AI-powered tools.
 

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs. Build integrations with Shopify, ERP systems, payment providers, HubSpot, Monday, Meta, and others. 
- Develop Shopify Apps, Shopify Functions, and Checkout Extensions. Build sync flows for orders, products, inventory, customers, and payments. 
- Develop complex automations, queues, background jobs, and ETL pipelines. Work with databases and design stable, scalable data models. 
- Build internal AI tools and AI solutions for clients. Improve performance, security, scalability, and reliability of existing systems. 

- Work closely with product, dev, and design teams.
 

Requirements

• Experience: 3–5+ years of backend development, proven production system experience, significant experience with REST APIs and integrations.
• Technologies: strong Node.js and TypeScript skills, experience with Express or NestJS, experience with PostgreSQL and Redis, Git.
• Cloud & DevOps: Docker, CI/CD, familiarity with AWS or GCP.
• Integrations: experience with external APIs, OAuth2, Webhooks, Queue Systems, rate limit handling.
   

Strong Advantages

Shopify App development, Shopify Functions and Checkout Extensions, Shopify Admin GraphQL API, ERP integrations, payment gateways, HubSpot API, Monday API, Meta API, GraphQL, BullMQ or RabbitMQ, SaaS product development, experience with AI APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini), RAG, tool calling, or prompt engineering.
 

Who We're Looking For

Someone who doesn't just write code but understands business processes — able to take a real customer problem (inventory sync, complex checkout, ERP integration, business automation) and turn it into a stable, smart, maintainable solution.

Bonus if you've already built: SaaS systems, CRM systems, complex automations, Shopify Apps, Shopify Functions, system integrations, AI tools, ERP sync systems, backend infrastructure for business systems.
 

Soft Skills

Systems thinking and architectural planning ability, full end-to-end ownership of tasks, strong independent learning ability, proactive problem-solving, good communication with technical and non-technical teams, ability to work in a dynamic environment, willingness to work with AI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex as part of the dev process.
 

What You'll Build

From day one you'll work on systems in real use by leading eCommerce brands: Shopify Apps and Shopify Functions, subscription and billing systems, ERP and payment integrations, backend infrastructure for business systems, AI tools for automation and data analysis, sync engines and catalog enrichment.
