Design Engineer (AI Experiences)

We're looking for a Design Engineer to help build AI-powered products by turning ideas into working experiences through AI-assisted development, rapid prototyping, and close collaboration with engineering teams.

At Beetroot, we're building a team of exceptional professionals to support a global enterprise's AI transformation. We're looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of UX, AI, and engineering, using AI-powered development tools to create intelligent, scalable user experiences.

This isn't a traditional Product Designer role. Pixel-perfect mockups don't measure success in this position - it's measured by how quickly you can turn ideas into working AI experiences. We're looking for someone who prototypes in code, experiments with AI tools, and collaborates closely with engineers to build products that people actually use.

You'll work alongside Product Managers, AI Engineers, and Software Engineers to shape AI-native experiences - from early concepts and rapid experiments to production-ready interaction patterns.

What you'll do in this role  

• Turn product ideas into working prototypes using AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows.
• Design, prototype, and iterate AI-powered experiences, conversational interfaces, AI assistants, copilots, and agentic workflows.
• Rapidly build MVPs, experiments, and A/B flows to validate ideas with users and stakeholders.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, v0, Lovable, Bolt, or similar tools to accelerate product development and experimentation.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, AI Engineers, Software Engineers, and Architects throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Design conversation flows, assistant behaviors, tool-calling interactions, human-in-the-loop experiences, and AI safety mechanisms.
• Build reusable interaction patterns and contribute components that can be integrated directly into engineering workflows.
• Translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive user experiences while balancing usability, trust, transparency, and accessibility.
• Document interaction patterns, prompts, workflows, and implementation guidelines to enable efficient collaboration with engineering teams.
• Continuously explore emerging AI technologies and introduce better ways of building products through AI.

We're looking for

• 7+ years of experience building digital products with a strong focus on UX, interaction design, product thinking, and AI-powered experiences.
• Experience designing and shipping conversational AI products, AI assistants, copilots, or agentic workflows.
• Strong understanding of how LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, tool calling, retrieval, and human-in-the-loop interactions work.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, v0, Lovable, Bolt, or similar to rapidly prototype and validate product ideas.
• Ability to build functional prototypes and experiments using code and AI tools—not relying solely on design software.
• Comfortable using GitHub, collaborating through pull requests, reviewing implementation with engineers, and participating in technical discussions.
• Understanding of front-end technologies and engineering constraints sufficient to prototype ideas, communicate with developers, and iterate quickly.
• Experience building or contributing to scalable Design Systems and reusable interaction patterns.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to simplify complex AI workflows into intuitive user experiences.
• Curiosity, ownership, and a builder mindset—you enjoy experimenting, learning new tools, and shipping ideas quickly.
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher.

How to knock our socks off

• Experience building products in AI-first environments.
• Experience working with autonomous AI agents or multi-agent systems.
• Experience evaluating prompts, LLM outputs, and conversational quality.
• Familiarity with MCP, tool integrations, retrieval pipelines, or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Experience working with enterprise SaaS products.
• Experience contributing to Design Systems in both design and code.
• Experience working in highly regulated industries.
• Passion for exploring emerging AI tools and continuously improving the way products are designed and built.
• Naming five or more dishes that include beetroot besides borshch.
