About the role
We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Team Lead to lead the decoupling of our legacy customer area (WHMCS/PHP) into a modern web app. You'll report directly to the CEO, with a clear path to Head of Engineering or CTO depending on performance. Expect roughly 50% hands-on coding and 50% leadership: architecture, code reviews, mentorship, and delivery accountability for a small, fast-moving team.
Your first 30 days will be spent in diagnosis mode: evaluating our tech stack, WHMCS dependencies, and billing flows, then building a 90-day execution plan.
Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally in fast-paced startup environments
- 3+ years leading an engineering team of 4 to 30 people
- Backend or full-stack focus: PHP, Node.js, Python, Java, Go, C#, or TypeScript
- At least one legacy migration or tech-stack decoupling project you personally led
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot) throughout the development cycle
- 2+ years of broader business or product involvement, not just technical delivery
- Fluent English, written and verbal
