Senior Backend Engineer

Our client is a mobile gaming company building consumer-facing products played by millions of users. Their backend powers real-time game mechanics, player data, in-app economies, and live operations at scale. They move fast, ship often, and rely heavily on AI tooling to stay lean and effective.
 

 We are looking for a seasoned Backend Engineer to join the core platform team. You will design, build, and maintain the services that keep their games running reliably at high load. This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership, not ticket-pushing.
 

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Framework
• Build and maintain data pipelines and event-driven systems with Kafka
• Own the reliability and performance of PostgreSQL and Redis-based infrastructure
• Contribute to microservices architecture decisions and cloud (AWS) operations
• Work closely with game, mobile, and DevOps engineers to ship features end-to-end
• Actively use AI coding agents in daily development to increase throughput and quality
   

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong Java skills with hands-on Spring Framework (Core, Boot, Web, Security)
• PostgreSQL and Redis in production environments
• Kafka for async/event-driven communication
• Docker and containerized deployments
• Microservices design patterns and AWS (any combination of EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, SQS, etc.)
• Daily hands-on use of AI tools and coding agents — this is a hard requirement, not a preference
• English: Upper-Intermediate or higher (B2+)
   

Conditions

• Full-time or part-time (3 days/week)
• Remote with occasional travel to team offsites
